Got One!

I picked up my first ferret yesterday :)

His name is Henry, he's a polecat cross so he's the traditional sable colour and he's daft as a brush! I got him from a lady in South Yorkshire who helps out the Hebden Bridge Ferret Rescue. He was the last one there as the lady has been poorly and can no longer cope with large amounts of rescues. He'd been with her for 4 months and his last owner was a drug addict who i guess just realised he couldn't care for him properly anymore.

I've booked him to be neutered next thursday as he's a complete hob and the musky smell is bothering my parents! But he's completely brilliant!

I know I am stating the very obvious, but please be very careful to keep him away from the guinea pig you have :-\

Don't worry i have a system set up! I have a special jumper that wear when handling Henry which i change before handling other pets. Plus Henry lives in my garage whilst Leo is a bedroom piggie! I would imagine Leo would have heart failure if i put him down in the middle of the garage!

To be honest he stinks vile! But he is a complete hob, well he is until Thursday anyway! Apparently castration takes away 90% of the smell.

He's extremely playful and friendly. Everything i could have wished for really. The rescue he came from gave me his hutch cos they are down sizing, to be honest it's too small for him but i'm splashing out on a large new cage for him. It called a Ferret Nation!

Last night i gave him free range of the garage and played with him! I've got a fake cat-o-nine tails which a friend bought me as a joke and he loves chasing it around! I'll post piccies as soon as i take some! A relative has got my camera but apparently my brother now informs me that his phone has a media card that you can take pictures on and have developed at Klick so might gate some of him when in see my brother again.
