Yay, an hour ago I met the person outside homebase to collect the new hammy :D The person he was born withnamed him Mousey, think that might be changing though, not sure ;) (he was really only named it so there was something to refer to him as, instead of the 'dove syrian') He's only been in his cage aobut 20 mins but he's had a drink and explored so far.

Going to borrow my grandads camera for pictures this afternoon, but until then, he's ADOOOOOORABLE :D

edit: He is now a Charlie ;)

Aw he's lovely! I agree, Spike is cute, he's an unusual colour isn't he? You could get away with a grand name for him, like Caesar or Hannibal (actually, maybe not - think Silence of the Lambs put the kaibosh (?) on that name!!). You could call him Silver, or Twinkle...

Yeah he's fine. Been sleeping a lot, eating and drinking fine, lovely and tame (that's mainly because he was hand reared and where he came from). Oh and also no signs of wet tail, so that's good!

(for anyone who has no idea what I'm talking about, wet tail is a disease which Syrian hamsters can get from stress where they have diarrhea and a really dirty bottom, and most of the time the hammy dies unless it gets immediately to a vet quick enough. http://www.petwebsite.com/hamsters/hamster_wet_tail.htm)

I used two of the suction cups from the 'sippy' water bottle and garden wire. I wrapped the gardening wire around both of the suction cups and put a bit of tape over "just in case". It probably didn't need the tape but puts my mind at rest ;)
