They might live happily together.

I think most people would say that there's a very good chance that they could fall out later when they are teenagers though. There's only one way to find out really.

A pair would be easier to keep together.

Or 3 girls.

I have three boars living together, 2 teenagers and one adult and they're doing great. There are other people on here with groups of 3 boys too.

But then there's always posts about boys who end up fighting and having to be separated. :(

I would say no. They may get on well at first but teenage hormones kick in quickly and in a matter of weeks you could end up with 3 single boars. You would need a huge space for this to be likely to work. Very few forum members have stable groups of more than 2 boars, and I think mainly these have only worked when bringing mature boars (who have gone through the hormonal stage and are quite laid back personality wise).

You need a minimum of 10.5 square ft for 3 guinea pigs (preferably 13 sq ft)

I currently have 3 boars living together but wouldn't really advise on getting 3 at the same time who are all the same age.

I think personality is also really important for having 3 boys in the same house, they all need to be different personalities with at least one who is super chilled.

I would say to get 2 and then maybe think about adding another youngster once the other two are out of those difficult teenage years

i have three living together but are in a very big area, that and they were all introduced at dfferent ages, i started with one adult boar and introduced a younger boar , and when both matured out ad settled in i inroduced another young boar (individually to each male) this worked fine , however i think space and personal ity should be big considerations as previously mentioned by the others.

I have 5 boars.

I have 3 on top. ( ages 2 yrs, 1.5 yrs and 14 weeks)

and 2 on bottom. ( ages 10 months and 5 months)

Each cage is about 10sqft. They have to have lots of room. Originally I had my 10 month old with my older boys and he hit the hormone stage and did not take it well so he had to be separated. He fought with one of my oldest and there was blood. Now he can never be with the cage mates again. You can always try, but be prepared if you need to separate them.

I've never actually had sows. But I know they can be less difficult. Its not impossible thou with boars! Good luck.

You're definitely getting a range of replies! I had three boars living together, one of which was about five and then two babies. However, once the two boys reached about eight months, one, in particular, started fighting with the other two and had to be separated. Now I only have one boar in each cage, as just too risky with my lot. Hope this helps…

The chances are very high that with three boars hitting the stroppy hormonal age together that you will have to separate at least one.

This can also happen with only two boars, mind you - much depends on the character compatibility. Generally it looks like you have better chances if the boars are not the same age - that way, you can avoid the hormonal clashes somewhat; if you look through our rescue section you can see quite a few already bonded boar pairs.
