How do I add an avatar?

Hi I am new to all this but would like to know how I can add an avatar? I have clicked "user cp" but cannot see the edit avatar button? :(

On mine, I go into User CP, then under the heading "Settings & Options" is where I find "edit avatar".

Perhaps you can't do it until you've made a certain number of posts? I don't know - but hopefully there will be someone later who can advise.
