I would take them to the vet, do you know what they were living on before?what are they on now do their nail's need trimming? it would be best to get them a check anyway.

Do the pigs get on well? one could have been injured in a fight another possibility is bumblefoot

Guinea lynx is the best website around for guinea pigs and has some really useful information, here is a link to information regarding bumblefoot. http://www.guinealynx.info/pododermatitis.html

This is a link to a fact sheet regarding bumblefoot which has loads of pictures on it which you may find useful, click on the link titled Polly's bumblefoot. http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/successes.html

Hi there,

I have taken them to the vet and he said it would be fine, they have lots of saw dust and straw for there bedding. I am feeding them dry food with extra vit c and fresh vegs too. It is heart breaking to watch the other g.pigs are doing great it is just this little man i am worried about. I am cleaning them and tonight I put a little vaseline on them can you suggest anything else I an do?

Did the vet give you anything for your pigs foot? If you could upload a picture I'm sure that will help.

Keeping the area moisturised is a good idea, also if you can clean the cage out daily while his foot is bad as it will help to keep bacteria out of the wound.

I have never experienced this problem myself but I'm sure some of the more experienced members will be on in the morning to offer more advice

Hi there,
they have lots of saw dust and straw for there bedding.

Do you feed them hay too? Guineas eat hay, keeps their teeth worn down, and their guts moving. :)

I think that straw is used for rabbits. :)
