Hi,
We've rescued 3 boars (who are separated) (Charlie, Toffee & Coco, and 1 rescued sow (Twinkle). So all of them are in one cage each, and it looks rather untidy let alone compact for them.
Anyway to cut a long story short, we love the idea of C&C caging, (with pros of space etc.), but was wondering if you can, and if so, how to stack levels on top of each other (like a long, wide, high rise block of flats), and also how to get into each cage to clean individually.
Thanks,
Luke & Mandy

Hi Luke and Mandy.
Welcome to the forum, yes you can have skyrise C&C so to speak. Have you separated the sow from the boys, as boys will generally fight the other males, if they have a female in with them. She is likely to be pregnant to if the boys aren't done.
I have a boy/girl pairing on each floor either the boy or girl has been done to prevent babies..

Hi Flintstones,
Nice setup. I bet they are well chuffed with all that space.
All four are separated and definitely want to keep it that way. The boys are so unsociable to each other, and Toffee was the first one we rescued and he had ear problems when we got him (which we think we have controlled), and reason why he is alone. Charlie is way to feisty, and Coco is so laid back he just sits on his own munching hay.
We were going to stick with the Bob Martin Soft Bedding, but are are those wood roods for support? But was aware that fleeces are used, how often do you change/clean them? Do you need to use correx? And lastly how does you lovely cage open?
Thanks for replying

I have now changed to vet Bed with inco pads underneath poop scoop twice daily and chuck out old wee'd on hay from hay tray I Can make it last 5 days before it all needs cleaned with this routine.
The cage opens at the front you can see the Black bulldog clips I use to keep it closed. The support beams are very basic just slotted them though the grids nothing fancy.
I used Corentherm for my base, which is 10mm thick clear more study than Correx.
This is the sheet I used for the bases.

Oh I forgot to say I would ditch Bob Martain this is personal preference. I know nothing about there bedding, but I believe there flea treatment are ment to cause epilepsy in cats, and there water bottles, the ball bearings fallout(Experience the water bottle incident). They just don't strike me as very safe for anything plus Vet Bed or fleece would be Cheaper. I invested in incontience pads for under my vetBed washable ones they are fabulous to although the neighbours probably think alot of people in my house are incontent :)).
The hay Trays I use Megazorb and hay.

Hi,
WOW! That is something else. Yes, I've seen the corotherm in B&Q, looks very sturdy. Are the bulldog clips set at each section or just at the end of the run? I think the open doorway is the only thing that puzzles me.
Dumb blonde man moment I guess.

Men :)). I have no building abilities and yet I managed there cage on my own :)). I swore alot though be prepared C&C is hell, its so annoying at times.
I will get pictures of the door if someone stops knawing my cupboard (I could have a pig for adoption very soon, he is messing with my sanity) pow-pow.
The top floor doesn't have doors I reach in and grab them easy done, to clean I remove the bases. Middle and bottom open in the middle, my only complaint is the doors hang down without being bulldog clipped.
When I didn't have clips I would tie them closed and somehow my middle boy managed to open the door slightly to make a big enough gap for himself to fall into the bottom cage, were my other male was waiting thankfully no lasting injuries, but there were quite a few minor wounds, I was so lucky and I learned my lesson pretty quick.
I will get pictures now so you see what I mean...

Hi,
Again, never knew that with Bob Martin stuff. I can imagine the air being blue. As a dumb blonde man and and a workhouse wife, we just want the best for our piggies.
So you don't bother with the bedding. Where do you get the vetpad washable pads?
Can't wait for the photos!

I bought my vetbed from Email got 6 pieces cut to size. I have my 3x2 base covered by vet bed then they have the hay tray which you can see in the above post me pulling it out. I keep the hay in there which has megazorb and hay in it, then the other bit were they generally sleep is VetBed.
I emailed him asked for it to be cut to size I got 6 pieces (3x2) for £40.
This is the sellar, I emailed and asked sizes. MAke sure you get the green backing as I have heard its better than the plastic backing less smelly.
I used this sellar.

Ok so incontience pads I bought a pack of 10 now they are slightly small for a 3x2 nothing major if you or your wife can sew you could probably cut and stitch to make it the correct size or do what I do and make do, a bit of folding hurt no one :))!.
I bought this pack (10)

I did have another cage, so for 2 changes I needed 8 anyway I bought them adleast a year ago I think now.
I used to have 2 pigs that lived side by side (Sadly Bette left for the bridge in November). This is how I accomodated my Anti-Social pig. Loved humans, she was gorgeous!

You can see the two cages side by side, and they could interact though the bars.
I hope this helps!
