Good Dog!

My dog is a staffy and in our old house him and his mum would kill the mice...
Ths moning I woke up to mum yelling "oh my god! Bronx has killed a rat! :o" Mum HATES rats o I went to look at it... the poor thing was still breathing! But died soon after it was about the size of a pet rat and mum said it was only a baby... :-\ So anyway I bought the bin around and mum picked up the mat and threw the dead rat in te bin... worst bit was it was right at the back door ;D

Lucky that thing didnt get inside... it could easily get to the guineas :(

After all the drama bronxy boy got lots of hugs and kisses :)

even though i love pet rats no one wants a wild rat in the house! :o

Yeh thats what I thought! Mum saw a giant one sitting out the back one day! eew!
I love rats too... just not wild diseased rats lol

just another point i wouldnt encourage your dog to kill rats....wild or not they feel pain like everything else and wild rats carry a lot of germs and can be very nasty little guys when they feel threatened. i used to have a horse and where we kept him there was jack russells they were kept as pets but loved to kill rodents and rabbits anyway one day a maaahooosive papa ratty was wandering about the hay bales and tiny the JR spotted him and went after him put it this way its a horrible sound hearing both a JR and a rat scream in agony as they fight, i managed to get the dog off mr ratty but the farmer had to shoot him he was in such a state and the dog needed stitches and antibiotics

:( poor doggy... this morning mum said she just saw bronx racing out the door... apparently he made a huge noise too then jumped back inside... I think staffys are trained to be 'rat dogs' as my mum calls them ;D
I felt sympathy for the poor rat as it lay there and die but imagine what it could do if it got inside, in the cupboards or up to the pigs :( thats the first rat ive seen at this house and the first he has killed in a long time ;D
hopefully it will be the last!

jack russells were bred to be "ratters" they used to train them by putting them in a barrel as a pup and put loads of wild rats in .....and see who came out the worst.... then they would send them down the burrows to kill rats and rabbits....very nasty stuff :(
