How cute, are they easy to keep.
they are, but you have to research alot, they cant be kept outdoors and unless you have a huge cage (like 6 ft wide and 6ft tall) with a flying saucer wheel (as they are metal) you should let them out every night. They are social creatures although some like being on their own and wont accept another chin
They are amazing little creatures although a bit 98) lol
They also cant get wet and have a dustbath every night to keep their fur soft (some people say they have the softest fur in the world, which is why people wear them as coats :tickedoff: )
And they need ALOT of things to keep their teeth short as they can have lots of teeth problems,
Biscuits is 5 1/2 months and bubbles is 7 1/2 months!
And before i go on
Bye

:) They're gorgeous Rach. You are very lucky. Do they eat the Timothy hay cubes? I know you can feed them Graze On and readigrass... Their diet is soooo much more specialised than guineas right? Whats it like regarding veterinary care for Chins?
They have to go every year for a check up but the main thing is that they get teeth problems very easy! they need lots of toys and they still chew on things you dont want them to (like your new top)
The vet visits are quite expensive if something serious is wrong although i have started a vet bill account for this so my parents wont have to pay
I feed them timothy hay in their hay rack and they get an alfafa hay cube once a week, sometimes they will both get half an alfafa stick, they love raisons but i only give them 1 a week as they are high in sugar and bad for them, but they are needed if the chin looks very low in energy (and i dont mean tired, also if they have a fit) to reboost their sugar levels, i feed them charnwoods and a very expensive food (£7.99 for a 1.5kg bag but charnwoods is £4.99 for a 5kg bag!!!)
I do worry about the hay going off as they dont eat or need that much unlike piggies and chinnies are nocturnal (which is okay for school days but on weekends is kinda boring although they get 2 hours out a night, they would get less as soem dont rest and overheat but my two sleep during some of playtime!)
Sorry about this longreply :D

Readigrass would last you a lifetime then probably. :) My friend has Degus and you need to be careful with their sugar intake too, not an animal for the weak willed.
Chinchillas arent that bad with the sugar thing but there has been some stories about raisons and chinchillas on the chinchilla forums i go onto.
I also give them redigrass as a treat and i give them edible rosebud every 2 days and every 2 days i give a small apple treat
They also like shredded wheat as an occasional treat
I spend £10 on toys every month and £10 on food

Aww they are so sweet! I use to have five of them! I love the pink white one! I had a pink white named Skye, she was ten years old, and a grumpy old lady! LOL
I love that they can live up to 20 years although most only make it to 12, i think one is 30, the oldest one
My pink white has a grey blob on his side as well! And his face is turning grey as he is **** only 6 months

The pictures are brilliant. :)
I am a bit of a chinnie addict too, currently have 7 and would have more if i had room to squeeze another cage in. ::)
thanks i love chinchillas, i love guinea pigs as well though, but i love all animals!
Oh gee they're lovely :smitten: :smitten: can tell from the way you speak that you adore them, good on you, they can only benefit from having a mummy like you O0 O0
thanks a lot!
This is their cage, its changed a lot since then, its 6ft tall, 3ft wide and 18" deep!
