Question on the quiz

Quite a few actually got the question - 'what is the watery-milky fluid in a piggies eye?' wrong..

I know you know now that it's tears to keep the eye moist..

Piggies don't actually blink - they haven't got eyelids although now and again they may close their eyes appearing to blink..
So in effect they have to cry (poor babies) in order to keep their beautiful eyes in perfect order!

A sign of conjunctivitis is when the water-milky fluid is a constant stream and the eye is also crusting up (like a lot of 'sleep' all round the eye), and also the eye will look swollen making it painful, hard to see and annoying for the piggy..

When they have something in their eye too they will also produce this fluid but you will also be able to see the obstruction on the eye as the fluid pushes it up and out - this doing the same effect and keeping the eye moist as an obstruction can dry up the eye.

It frightened the life out of me the first time I saw that milky liquid coming out of George's eye. It was after their first bath. I thought I'd got shampoo inside him. I went into total meltdown ;D ;D

LOL -that can happen if you ever got a little shampoo or water in the eye too!! But it's ok, the fluid is there to push whatever's in the eye out! ;D ;D
