Hi Jane, he's got a Zoo Zone 1 to start with but will need a Zoo Zone 2 when he's bigger, they need the plastic cages so they don't get their feet caught in wires as they will climb!

Hmmm... I'm confused! I have never heard of these... he looks like a baby hedgehog!

Hi, that's because he is a baby Hedgehog, that's what they are called, 'Hoglets'. He is an African Pygmy Hedgehog which are bred as pets not like our wild Hogs! :)

Oh right! That's something new I learnt today. Are they friendly? How do you manage to hold them without getting prickled? Sorry for all the questions!

He will stay quite small, and he eats Iams or Go-cat dry food, live meal worms, dried insects and fruit and veg and fresh water. They are very playfull and like balls, wheels, tubes etc.....i've got him a lovelly wooden house to nest in during the day too......

They are friendly as long as you handle them alot. They start 'quilling' at around 3 months which is when they loose their baby quills and their adult quills come thru', it's quite painfull so they get 'huffy' >:(. They have to be handled all the time thru' this or they stay 'huffy' >:( afterwards! ;D You stroke them the way their quills fall so you don't get prickled and you cup them from underneath with both hands to pick them up, unless they'er curled up in a ball that is, then it gets a bit prickly! ;D

Wow they like a variety of foods :)
Makes sense about the handling tho, i hope you both have many many wonderful years together, of course we'll need piccies often to check on his size and his cuteness :smitten:
