adding friends

hi all

can someone please tell me how you add 'FRIENDS'? 2 people have asked me to become friends and I can't see how to do it??? ???/

I am also a bit confused by the friends bit but there is a section in FAQ about Friends and Contacts so might be worth a look? (in User Profile section)

I only seem to have the option to have Contacts rather than Friends at the moment but have only just made it past 50 posts:)

You go to your User CP, then on the left hand side there's a section called Contacts & Friends, click on this, you'll then see at the bottom of the page a small open window with 'Add a Member to your list' in this you type the name of the friend you'd like to add....then click on 'Add Friend'

Aw thanks guys, just looked on my profile but it says i still have no friends or contacts. Do you have to accept friend requests? I havent had any messages or notifications......?

I thought the friends facility had been stopped, to save the Forum owners some money. I might be quite wrong of course, but that's what I thought.

Hay ive just had a look at th section stated above and i only have add contact not add friend... Is add contact the same as add friend? if not i cant find the friend section lol any ideas? xx

The 'friends' facility was removed a while ago, when we needed to look at ways to make the forum run faster and to cut the huge fines we were incurring for exceeding our bandwidth allowance.

Ahh cool that explains why i have no friends section lol- so i cant add people can they add me? Or is this a permanent thing-will i ever be able to use the friends section on my profile page?? xx

Ah ha. That's why it was not working for me! I kept typing names in but they would not show up on my friends list. Why do people still have friends though?

They have friends because the friends were added before the setting was removed.

You're all still my friends anyway, friends setting or no friends setting! :)
