View Full Version : Am looking to buy and live in Kent!
Hello can anyone help. I'm looking to buy a Abyssinian guinea pig (after research it seems this breed is the best with children!, I am new to the guinea world so if this is not true, please advise!). Does anyone know of any breeders in Kent or anyone who has any for sale.
Thanks in advance.

Hi we are a pro rescue forum here so do not encourage breeding. There are many rescues were you could adopt guinea pigs from. Please think of adopting as there are so many guinea pigs in urgent need of a good home. When you get guinea pigs this way it means you can be sure they have a clean bill of health. It is not true that Abyssinians are the best for children at all.
Guinea pigs are very timid animals and need lots of time and patience. Often children get bored with them as a result. Would you be the one to ensure you do the cleaning of their home and handling? I do not wish to sound patronising but children are not responsible enough to do that.
This is a wonderful forum and will teach you all you need to know. :)

Hello from another Kent member. Have a look at Crawley Guinea Pig's website http://crawleyguineapigrescue.org/default.aspx Jenny has some lovely piggies looking for homes at the moment and she also has links to other reputable rescues locally. I am currently fostering several piggies for Jen, including Louis and Gerry to gorgeous boys looking for their forever home. Here is a link to the boys on Guinea Pig Rehome http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/gp/moreinfo.asp?GpigID=6979
Do stick around, TGPF is a friendly place and you will find tons of information about all things pig here!!
