i want outside this morning to feed the pigs and found missy lieing on her side she wasn't dead yet so mum took her to the vet and the put her down cause she was peralysed

i think spiders may be getting them either that or im jinxed to only own 6 cause when i decide to keep more then that one dies cause when i got elvis sparky passeded and when i wanted to keep one of my baby piggies romeo elvis passed and now when ive decided im gonna keep juilet missy passes

also my freind has just lost to of her piggies and one is not in a good condition

to make matters worse when i came home this arvo i found ny romeo died :'( so either there are getting sick or spiders are bitting them or im a bad owner cause ive now had there die in less then i month and there wearnt even that old
elvis was- about 4-5 months
missy was pretty old turning for in december
romeo not even 2 months

i really feel like givin up and selling all my piggies and there cages cause all there deaths were in differant cages ive brought all of them inside for now to moniter things

but no matter how hard i try there just keep dying a so called friend told me yesterday i was lucky to still have some living im starting to think she is right i dont want any more deaths my back yard is turning into a guine pig semetary as when we were looking after some pigs for my freind who said im lucky to have some still living we lost four of her pigs to due to unknown cercemstances one due to my brother and another escaped

im really hoping i can prevent anymore deaths

Hey do you live near a pets at home at all? If you are cleaning out your cage spray with with cage and hutch, this gets rid of nasty little spiders and insects.
It's not harmful to animals, but you could always leave the guinea pigs in a run while the air gets into the hutch :)
Your not a bad mummy, I mean the guinea pigs could of had something Genetically wrong with them.
I hope you feel better soon :)

And if your worrie, why not take your piggies for a check up at the vets just to make sure, if you're really worried? :)

oh hun I am so sorry you have lost so many pigs in such a short space of time, but it happens it happend to me and Debbie ( furryfriends) at the begining of the year, all you can do is hoover the spiders out ( I dont think they are killing them) and use something quite strong and for animal treatments I use trigene it kills fungas spores viruses etc
and try not blame yourself, as for being paralised that happens when they have a low calcium level if she wasn't so far gone you could have tried giving her osteocare a calcium and vitamin medication , which would ahev reversed the paralasis but she sounds as if it was a bad paralasis, but for next time in case it happens again,
all you can do hun is make sure you are sticking tot he rules keeping them fed watered dry and warm/cool and I know you have done that so its down to nature as already said it could be inbreeding and thats something you might not know about, dont dont blame yourself

i could've killed our dog this morning last night she decided to go and dig up missys grave and dog is now scared to came near me

i put bricks on top of her grave but our dog loves to disturb the dead
