I alternate my boys between fleece and newpspaper and hay - I have found that laying newspaper down, and then a layer of Pampers Dri nites bed pads works really well....the base stays dry for a week! You may need to change the newspaper if it gets wet, and remove the wet hay, but the Dri nites...
