Thank you all so much!
I don't know if i will be publishing them, however at the moment it does appear that other breeds are more responsible but they've just not been reported.
I know labs are the most common and i do plan to sort out some percentages as they are attributed to more bites but...
Hi guys,
I am a third year animal behaviour and welfare student and am doing my dissertation on the perception of dog breeds and would be very grateful if you could take about 2 minutes to fill in my survey.
I apologise if this is in the wrong section, but this is the most relevent section i...
Thanks for that, i will look into it.
He's doing a bit better now as i've left my tv on for him. Hopefully it won't be too long until he gets a new friend!
the thing i've always liked with Frankie is he tries to be dominant but he always submits after a nose off - a bit cheeky as i remember...
Thanks for the replies (that link is great!).
He was a bit more friendly yesterday morning although didn't want to be handled, i took him out of the cage (with slightly more protest than normal) and put him in his carrier (got a dog) for him to watch wrestling (he loves it) and occasionally got...
hi, i know i haven't been on here in ages but i've been swamped with uni.
Basically this morning Bobby was squeaking a little when he was breathing and within an hour he had a fit or something (Frankie then legged it) and unfortunately passed away :-( We think it could have been a heart defect...
I've got a Ferplast 140 (140cm x72?cm) from Pets at home, I keep my two boars in it and it's a great size for them both. They've got plenty of room for playing and avoiding each other. It's not a cheap cage at all but it pays to see happy animals.
I love the cage as it is easy to clean but...
How about putting them in a carrier on the other side of the room and gradually move them closer to the cage until you think you can leave them in?
Personally i remove them as it's extra cuddles for them and they won't feel like they are being chased
I bought my guinea's in whilst i cleaned them and noticed Frankie has a new favourite show - Jeremy Kyle...
He also LOVES the wrestling - when he's in during the winter he goes to the corner of his cage without fail at the start of the show.
Bobby loves Spongebob and seems to take a shining...
Plenty of hay in their bedroom will help.
I know a lot of people on here put a duvet over the hutch with a plastic sheeting (rain).
It's worth having a look on ebay as when i was looking for a hutch cover there were some which can specially make them for your hutch. I changed my mind and...
Thank you, that's also the cheapest i found (can't afford it for a month either). We got her before the small animals (had her nearly 12 yrs), she is fine when there's people in the room but she's a cheeky one and knows when she's not being watched. When the piggies are out she watches them out...
Thank you both for replying, i may not risk it then as she does have a bit of a drive in her.
I'm probably going to get a savic nero 4 or ferplast 140 (just price of the large one is a little steep)
That's a good point about him getting bigger. He did look very healthy (seems piggie food suited him).
All i'm going to say is......the cat's started hunting again - just heard my mum scream this morning lol. Not a bad hunter for a 14yr old.
When i dismantled the coop and before i moved the...
I have just measured, i can just about fit a 140 cage as long as it's not more than 60/61cm deep (TV stand - but i may be able to nudge it a little without people noticing)?
Basically i need new winter housing for my two boys as they chewed a hole in their trixie pen they were in last year.
I was looking at a ferplast 120 or a nero 4 (prefer ferplast as i already have some houses).
I've only got about 120cm length and about 90cm out (absolute max as it will...
I know what you mean, although i doubt i will see it again as it still ran away so will associate the hutch with a threat. The hutch isn't on the ground either as it's about 2 inches above the ground so don't think it will be able to get in.
The cat will also be on patrol a lot (especially as...
He did also seem quite tame as i stroked him and stepped back for a couple of seconds before he walked off so think he's been there a while.
Quite plump to so think the boys have been feeding him to haha.
He can get in their hutch though (bar spacing is wider) but i don't mind providing he...
I would keep some of them.
Have you tried treatballs?
My boys used to have two but they kept putting them in their water bowl, they don't have a bowl now but i only have 1 and don't want squabbles. Frankie loved his treat ball (i just put their muesli in it).
Mine don't particularly like toys...
I was dismantling the coop they lived in as the ramp keeps on breaking and with the way it attaches i worry about them get caught on the screws.
So i've removed the coop and put them back in their hutch (smaller but safer).
I moved one of their bridges and saw a mouse sitting there!
I...
I'm on my first piggies now and they're both boars. They're 15 months now and are calming down nicely, there was a lot of helicoptering and nose offs at around 9-12 months but they seemed to have been settled with Bobby being the boss and Frankie being the henchman and seems to get paid in food...
