    Help! Piggy Escaped!

Glad she is back! Where do you live? It's far too cold and damp at the moment for them to go in the garden in the uk where I am. Can't wait for the nice warm weather so they can get out on the grass. X

    Guinea Pig Shed?

Hi. I have a heater for when it's cold and two built in fans that come on when it gets warm. When u say you are bringing them in for floor time, it's not really a good idea if it's warm indoors and then cold in shed, best to wrap up and sit out with them so they not exposed to extreme temp...

Hi. Do you have a p@h near? They have adoption centres. I adopted a piggy 2 years ago from them she was 3 months and is a beautiful white long hair with blue eyes.Went in today and they had a pair of gorgeous piggys. Dont know the sex but one cream and white crested and other tri long hair. If I...

    ivermectin for lots of piggies!!

Hi. I use Beaphar anti parasite spot on. I get it from pets at home or jolleys and it costs around a fiver for 4 tubes so 2 boxes would do 8 pigs, but you would probably need to do them again after a fortnight (still only £10!). I also find bathing them in Nizoral shampoo helps if it is...

    warty things!

Hi I Was grooming my sheltie and when I flipped her over to give her a check, I noticed some yellow coloured warts/skin tags circling her mammary glands. Anyone any ideas what they could be? Checked my others and they are all ok. She seems to have lost a bit of weight/ condition as well. Any...

What would you do? Pregnant piggies in P@H

The crux of the matter is what do you really want to do? If you have the space time and money to rehome a pregnant guinea pig, then go ahead. At the end of the day, whether you, a caring thoughtful owner, or someone who just walks in off the street and thinks oh a cute piggy lets buy it and then...

    Suggestions Please

Had a look on a website and I don't think fluff a bed is suitable for a guinea pig. it is more for mice and hamsters who make their own beds. A guinea pig will just sit on it and more than likely pee on it. I use carefresh in one half of my cage and a peice of pet bedding I get from poundland...

    Annoyed with Dad!

You need to get some "rearguard" from the vets for buns bum which prevents flystrike. then get some "kybosh" from homebase or b&q and when animals are out in the garden, spray all round the shed and it stops creepies for a good few weeks. I also hoover my shed out every couple of weeks to get...

    Dwarf Guinea Pigs?

Never heard of them, but it would'nt surprise me, what will they come up with next? Are you sure it was'nt a hamster she meant? ;D

    Longevity in guinea pigs?

To be honest, I don't think theres an answer to this. When you look at humans some people are just more predisposed to disease than others. In fact, maybe too much nurturing could also be a bad thing, I don't mean general good hygiene and good food, but some people go a bit over the top (myself...

    POTTY TRAINING PIGGIES?!

I've had lots of piggies over the years and the one I have now is the only one who is "trained". He only ever goes near his food bowl. In fact, he perches on the top of his bowl and does it over the edge! I've even got photo's of him doing this, its so unusual. I have a fleece blanket at one end...

    Skinny pigs

They can be bought in the free ads for between £20 and £50, so theres plenty of profit in them. My local p@h had a french lop for sale at £150 it was massive so obviously not a baby, at the time I went in, there was a sign saying he was not for sale at the moment, but they were taking...

    boars

They can be kept together, but as most people agree, it does'nt always work. You could have 2 brothers who get on fine as babies, but when they mature, may fight and will then have to be seperated. I keep my boy in the house. He is on his own, but is in the main living area of our house. Every...

Putting off a breeder- Hairless pigs

I think kayjay has made a good point about long-haired guinea pigs. I can imagine the state of some long-hairs kept by people who have lost interest. The poor things end up matted and covered in urine, not to mention skin problems. there are always going to be controversial opinions about new...
