Angry I'm fuming !!!!

Had a chap drop off 4 baby bunnies yesterday. They're 16 week old dwarf lops, gorgeous colours but unfortunately VERY neglected.

Story is that he lost his job 2 months ago and hasn't been able to afford bunny food since then so the bunnies have just been fed on table scraps - mainly potato peelings and toast crusts from what I could understand. One of them, the black/white one, apparently fell out of the hutch about 6 weeks ago and landed on it's face. He said there was loads of blood and it's teeth were knocked out. He didn't go to the vet as he said it was still eating and drinking ok - it's about half the size of the others so obviously it isn't It is going to my vet tomorrow as it, in my opinion, needs surgery

Their feet and tummies were caked with poo that has set like concrete , going to spend today soaking them to soften it so that I cant remove it all and try to make them more comfortable. They're eating well - in fact they haven't stopped, bless them.

Sorry - rant over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just makes me so very cross that he just left them. If he couldn't afford to feed and care for them properly why on earth didn't he do something about it sooner. I know that he maybe was embarrassed about the position he was in but there really is no excuse for leaving animals in this condition. To make matters worse when they left here they were going to the pub for lunch - he could afford that !!!!!!!

Sorry - rant really over this time

If you look at the black/white bunny you can see it's teeth protruding out the front of it's mouth.

Oh Teresa, you said they were bad, but that POOR boy!

I can't believe anyone would let them get like that and aren't potato peelings a no-no?

Poor poor bunnies, I'm so glad they're with you and have a chance. I do hope the toofy boy is able to be helped, bless him.

I will be looking for a boy to neuter and go with Bridget bunny, perhaps one of these would like to be her husband?

You're a saint

BIG HUG

It is so upsetting to see these gorgeous animals in a state like that and know that it was completely unnecessary suffering they have been through!

Best of luck with all the cleaning and for the smallest one!!!

What gorgeous little bunnies! How disgusting that someone would neglect them like this. I think some people need to get their priorities right. A couple of years ago I was made redundant and was very short of money but managed to provide well for my animals, and at that time I also had a piggie who needed numerous operations. It is possible to feed yourself for a very small amount per week. Ok it might not be the foods we would prefer but it can be done. We all have stuff around our houses that we could sell to get some more money. Great how he could afford to go the the pub for lunch too, yet the animals have been given scraps. Eating out is a big luxury! God, people like him make me so mad!

On a positive note though, its good that they are now with you and will get the care and love they deserve.

Sounds like a lame excuse to me, if you have just lost your job how can you afford to go out to lunch. Glad that you have them now, hope that you are able to find them good homes.

Yes, the cheek of it going out to the pub for lunch when he's just landed you with a possibly huge vet's bill for bunny number 1 -

Grrrrr!

Yep - you're right Sophie, bunnies should not eat potatoes but I think these are just so very hungry that they'll gobble up anything.

Third bunny down is a buck if you think Bridget might fancy him as a hubby

Black/white bunny - uncertain is it's a girl or boy, dosen't look quite right down there so will get vet's opinion tomorrow.

2nd and 4th pics are little girls

Have to say that they all very friendly and easy to handle.
