    Absorbent Bedding!

The only bedding I like is fitch. Dust free, very absorbent, reasonable price, can buy large amounts of it. Soft enough for the piggies, no respiratory issue. And poops just seem to fall through the pieces! I use fleece as I don't have the space to store fitch, but often use it if going away so...

Have you tried the odd flaked pea lol

New piggies stinking the place out!

Ah I hate the smell of megazorb! I've never seen snowflake shavings I'll Google, tbh I've just avoided shavings in general, we use fitch and hay and back2nature in litter trays for bunnies and it's always been fine so I've never looked elsewhere haha

    Carefresh

...and Blitzen were on Carefresh til it because too difficult to source it regularly (and at a reasonable price). If it doesn't work out with the Fitch, Back2Nature, Megazorb and Aubiose are the ones I've seen used by other members. Never used Aubiose myself, Back2Nature is great but the pellets...

New piggies stinking the place out!

Dried forage absolutely! My lot get it instead of pellets most nights. There is a member of this forum who runs a business selling piggy and bunny safe forage - Piggie Parcels. Absolutely brilliant variety.

    Disposable bedding help for holiday

...currently thinking of making the piggies holiday accommodation half fleece half disposable bedding. Any recommendations for short term disposable bedding? (Compostable a bonus!) From reading the guides, and previous comments, I am wondering if Fitch might be best? Any advice welcome. Thank...

    Best outdoor bedding?

What's everyone's favourite outdoor bedding....ie, shavings or Fitch or something else? (Obviously bucket fulls of hay as well😉) Ta muchly 🙂
  8. Black piggies

    Fleece lined bedding.

I use fleece liners with absorbent core on half the cage and puppies pads with hay on the other half. I prefer fleece liners but they need more frequent poop scooping, if I'm going away and leaving someone to look after the pigs, I often use fitch bedding instead.

    Easichick

I was just about to place my regular Fitch order, but they’ve stopped doing 20kg bales, and the 10kg bales work out to be more expensive. I had a look at their other options, and the easichick looks good. Cheaper (£11/20kg), and an internet search suggests that it’s ok for guinea pigs. Just...

what do you use in your hay tray?

If you’re looking for something similar to carefresh, Fitch recycled paper bedding is quite similar and much cheaper :) we just switched over to that for our main bedding and it’s super absorbent!

    Easichick

Update: a bit more research and it would seem it’s *not* suitable for guinea pigs as it’s made from pine. I’ll stick with Fitch!

    Does my laundry detergent matter?

...they're in their cage a lot longer than their carrier, so does it matter more? I've previously used recylced paper bedding (an equivalent to Fitch bedding), but the one I liked best is getting more expensive and less available, and it's not as suited for my current piggies (a little live...

    Fitch First paper bedding?

Did you use it under fleece or under hay or just on it's own? And did they eat it!

New piggies stinking the place out!

Ah hopefully that means the fitch will work well then :) Oh do they not sell them anymore then? I think I ordered some forage and hay for my buns from there once and they werent that keen. Oh that's another question do piggies do dried forage at all? I picked some fresh forage earlier for...

New piggies stinking the place out!

...a large hay tray and fleece hides etc, but I've just switched them to back2nature litter with loads of hay on top, I'd have prefered to use fitch but we've just run out and our new lot hasn't arrived yet. So I'm hoping this will help, but I gave them both a whiff when I was putting them in...

    Fitch First paper bedding?

I use Fitch in the hay area of our cage. I love it! They seem to toilet in one spot in particular, so I replace the dirty bedding with used-but-clean stuff daily, and put brand new clean fitch in the used-but-clean area, if that makes sense? I replace the whole lot once a week when I clean out...

    Fitch First paper bedding?

I used Fitch for a couple of years and really liked it. However, like @anyar.dris I stopped using it when the manufacturer got greedy and almost doubled the price.☹️

    Fitch First paper bedding?

I've used Fitch in the past and I really liked it for my piggies. But since it became to expensive (used to be around £20 more or less for a 20kg bag, then they increased the price to £35!), I stopped using it.

what do you use in your hay tray?

Thanks, they like to dig under the hay so they end up partly under the bedding instead of on top! So I think I want something they're less likely to push out of the way
