    Boar behaviour

So today is the day I have been dreading. My last piggy, beautiful super cuddly Percy Piccolo has gone to his new home, and with this comes the end of my piggy journey. I am feeling heartbroken but know he has gone to a wonderful setup where he has plenty of room and three new companions and...

    Copying older guinea pigs

I have several times introduced a baby pig to an older pig and have seen them watch the older pig intently to see how to use the ramp or the water bottle, with the older pig continually looking over to see if baby pig was paying attention and figuring it out. I've actually had a long line of...

    Ramps and levels

Simple way I taught mine was to put them in the hutch / loft and put the food at the bottom of the ramp .. going down is always scariest .. mine used to wheek going down at first but they love racing up it ☺️

    Hutch - play space

I want to put my chartwell 6 ft ( now in the garage) in the playhouse and get a ramp so they can also use the floor during the day so they can have more space. Would you give me some advice on insulation?

    Kavee Cages

It’s big enough for two girls. Two girls need a 4x2 If you don’t want any added cost then you don’t need the loft (it doesn’t count as floor space and actually the ramp actually cuts into the floor space. They will possibly sit underneath it but otherwise it can be a waste of space). Also...

    Correx ramp help

Hi and welcome! Many piggies don't really like ramps and a correx one will be slippery for them. I would recommend getting or making a cloth tunnel to put up the ramp. My piggies started using the ramp a bit more once I bought a cloth tunnel, it had a felty/fleecy liner in the bottom so they...

    Ramps and levels

Some do, some don’t! Piggies aren’t natural climbers so some will use them and others won’t. All you can do is try and see Sometimes a ramp can become a problem or territory issue. If one piggy claims it as his own he can refuse to let the other use it.

How come lofts don’t ‘add’ to floor space?

If you do at some point decide on a loft, be aware that some piggies ( both of mine) like to get half way down the ramp and then jump off! Even the sides don't always stop this happening......I got used to it eventually!

    Bonding older bereaved boar

I did think that, he was already starting to ramp up last week, and he can't have broken his teeth then. Otherwise, the weight loss would be much greater, even potentially starting to see stasis if he couldn't eat for that long. I'll keep on the syringe feeding, pain relief, I weigh weekly...

Having a stupid amount of trouble finding C&C grids the correct size

Searched all over Amazon and couldn't find anything the size I needed without just buying the whole dang cage again :( I rummaged through the closet to find the box it came in and found a separator grid I never used. It has a door on it, but it shouldn't be an issue since I'm layering it with...

    Guinea Pig Apartment coming soon..

Personally I would remove some of the partitions so they have more zooming space and less chance of being cornered. I would (and did) buy proper ramps with sides. The grids removed from the interior I would put on the top to attach hammocks to. As already advised, multiple small fleeces are much...

    Advice for bereaved guinea pig

Hi all! Sorry if this is not the right place to ask about this. My sweet little boy, Winston, died over the weekend. His brother, Willoughby, (3 years and 3/4) is now left on his own so we are planning on getting him some piggie friends to play with (although, he has been loving having the...

    The Beastie Boys

Thank you. So far the plan is looking like a 5x2 with a 2x2 annex. We are looking for a dresser to put part of it on and will be using grids to support the rest, so 70cm/28in high. We're looking at a way to have 2 ramps with a landing so nothing will be too steep. We want to use as much under...

    Bonding a new pig- hutch?

Are your sister in laws piggies used to being in a two storey hutch or do they live single level? I’m asking this because if the new piggy you get isn’t used to it then it could become an issue, even if only for the short term. Not all piggies will use ramps - some take to it straight away...

    Liliath Carmelita's Regal Ramblings

A triple decker cage? If that is what you mean then I’m afraid they aren’t suitable for piggies. Piggies are ground roaming creatures who need single level living and for their cage to measurement requirements on that one (bottom) level. One additional level is fine for a bonus space but...

    Boar brothers getting ratty

Hi, I have a pair of boar brothers. I‘ve had them since they were 12 weeks old, they are now 18 months. They live indoors in a 8x2 c&c cage with a ramp for extra space. They have one each of everything. They also have a large secure run in the garden for warm days when they go out on the grass...

    Yellow clump in pee

Only the main floor counts as the space, levels don't count. For example 2 x 5 with another floor the same size is considered to be the same as a 2 X5 with a loft. Also be aware that not all piggies take to using ramps.

How to help new piggies scared of own cage

I would still give them some time to settle in but it’s good they are used to handling - once they are settled it will hopefully makes things a bit easier! Can they not just have the whole c&c area rather than a smaller cage being inside at all? (A light sheet can still be pegged over the...

    Inactive pigs

Thanks for the response! I've always been hesitant to put them down in the playpen. I figured if they don't want to be down there, I don't want to force them. Do you think putting them down there, while the ramp is down (so they have access to back up as soon as they want) would be a good idea...

My piggies have fallen out? Is this normal?

Yes there is a lot of information but we have always tried to give clear, correct information in any post you have made. All the guides provide the same advice. Piggies are not natural climbers and this is why single hutches work best. It’s not that a double hutch is wrong, it’s that there...
