    The Beastie Boys

We have 3 door grids on each floor. Master Boris is now pootling up and down the ramp happily. After several demonstrations not working, Sir George forced him to use it. It looked quite nasty but as soon as Master Boris was downstairs, Sir George popcorned like mad so it was obviously for...

    Diet advice for overweight piggy

The issue with lofts is that the ramp can cause issues. Piggies are not natural climbers and need a single level cage. If he is overweight he may not even use the ramp. For two boars, if at all possible, you would do better to give them the recommended cage size of a 5x2 and not have a loft.

    Bonding a new pig- hutch?

I guess they could be the difference with spot cleaning - the shavings I use aren’t light fluffy shavings, I use snowflake soft chip which is small but heavier pieces of chipped wood. the wet areas are obvious as once peed on and dried the chips are a slightly darker colour, even when mixed...

Safe everyday foods are lettuce (but not iceberg), bell pepper, cucumber and coriander. My piggies had to learn to use a ramp. I personally found it easier for them to learn by going up rather than down first.

    Correx ramp help

One of our piggies was too nervous to go down the ramp for a while, while the other enjoyed morning zoomies up and down. We put a tunnel in at that time, for safety, and now we have carpet, to make it less slippy and more comfortable. Here and here you can see the bottom of our ramp as it is...

Piggie suddenly eating cage and more!

Ah yes my aged brain had forgotten the existence of slide binders 🙄 we had them on the ramp they used briefly as youngsters. I will order some more! Plus remove any remaining tape. They both love a paper bag and I do put them and cardboard tubes in for stimulation but it’s currently all about...

I can't comment on the bedding. How are your piggies doing? Did they learn to use the ramp? Whatever you put hay in they will pull it out to play with as well as eat, it's part of their enrichment. I use a hay bag as well as a tray full and mine love pulling enough out so they can climb in😂...

    Copying older guinea pigs

That's so sweet! It really touched my heart when I saw my younger piggie trusting his older brother so completely and following him around.

    Hutch reccomendations

Welcome Chartwell single storey hutches are what I would recommend, but you should consult a recur before buying anything to ensure they agree with the housing. Double hutches are fine but piggies need their space to be big enough on a single level (they aren’t natural climbers), so you...

Hi! I have 2 guinea pigs that are fighting a lot while I am trying to bond them. what should I do?

That’s normal dominance, don’t worry. Simba is establishing himself as boss The cage needs to be single level and needs to be a 5x2. A bottom level is the only part that counts (upper levels don’t count) so a 2x3 won’t be big enough for two boars. Any area connected by a ramp or tunnels...

Can I give my guinea pig a PVC pipe tunnel?

I've been using PVC pipes as tunnels for years for my pigs. Not a single pig has ever chewed mine ever, not even a little bit. However: my pigs are free range during the day, and go to bed in the shed at night. The pipes are there for added protection from predators. The two reasons I think my...

    Floor time

I do floor time with my piggies several times a week. Their cage has little ramps that let down, and they decide if they want to come out. (Don't force your piggies, it their decision!) Sometimes I sit in the middle of the room and then they run over to beg for treats. Keep in mind that...

Need tips for introducing a boy

I have put them in their permanent cage (its 3 Midwests joined together) and it took a minute for the boy to learn how to use the ramps lol. They are all very tired after the bonding so are taking a nap now 🤞

Piggies can’t get grip on ramp

My piggies new c&c cage has a loft, but they can’t get up the ramp. They know how they work because their old cage was 2 story with a ramp. The material feels really cardboardy (the cage is from kavee cage). Whenever they try to climb up it, they slide back down because they can’t get a grip...

    Boars fighting...

The hutch has to meet size requirements on a single level and any area connected by a ramp does not count towards that size (it’s because piggies prefer their living space to be flat and single level). If I recall, you had a pawhut hutch which wasn’t big enough for the two. You then said you...

    New boar to bonded pair

:wel: Adding a third boar to a bonded pair is not recommended. Usually what happens when adding a third boar is that the newcomer is rejected. But it can also be the case, as has happened with you, that the bond between the original two is broken. The other thing is that it breaks the bond of...
