    Pigging Out

Yeah..the piggies are in The Rural Rabbit Retreat in Holywell, just 30 mins from us. 😁 They are in a 6x2 custom hutch, not C&C. But the space is enough for the both of them and they are in fleece. Ready when you are🐹🐰💕 | By The Rural Rabbit Retreat | Facebook

Best sheds in the UK to convert for 3 sows

I just had a bog standard 8x6 shed, I built the hutch into one end of the shed putting insulation between shed wall and hutch so it was nice and snug, I also ran power in to the shed so I had lighting and an oil filled radiator for added heat. My piggies and buns lived long happy lives. 👍

    Resistant Mites?

...me a lot of stress. I have been constantly cleaning every 2/3 days , I have brought them inside and been giving them selamectin to see if the hutch was the problem and having an easier to clean cage. But no after every 10 days they will start scratching again and I’m running out of ideas of...

    Static Mites :( Prevention advice

No it doesn’t make any difference. Mine live outside in a shed year round. They used to be in wooden hutches in the shed but due to certain circumstances now are in c&c in the shed. I have always disinfected my hutches with F10 - spray it in and it does get into the wood and properly...

Guinea pig living environment advice - UK

Welcome to the forum It’s absolutely fine to keep them in the garage in winter but its best for them to be shut in the hutch at night for warmth. A kavee (c&c) cage would be fine to use as a run during the day in the garage in winter. A hutch needs to have covers for winter nights to keep...

    How to line hutch

...warm has changed a lot, and now we know they shouldn’t be on wet grass, need to be treated like tender plants etc I find it much harder keeping them safe outside in summer than in winter. Dealing with the heat in a hutch and shed, warm breezes heating up runs etc is where a major challenge...

    Bonding help

That makes sense thank you. I just worry it’s going to be cold without the bed area . I like how it’s closed off. I do have 2 heat pads though for the winter.

    Happy 2nd birthday Kylie!

...lovely girly. I love your little brown nose and your cute brown ears. Such a shame Mummy wouldn't let me bring you home to live in The Penthouse Suite, Betsy Towers, The Hutch, The Garage when I came to visit you a while ago. It's a much posher address than The Cage, The Living Room, The Flat!

Yes - you want scent to transfer from what the set up is right now to what you want it to be to make the change easier on them. So either use the same bedding; or you can use new bedding but you would need to remember, as you say, to let them walk on it before you change it or run the new...

    Adding another pig

...sure! She has understandably had a very nervy day, pretty much sticking to her hide. I've covered a lot of the cage because she is used to a hutch with a roof and she has definitely nibbled some hay, grass and a little veg. Her neighbours seem suddenly to have realised she is there 😂 I have...

    100% hay pellets

...of everything else. Piggie Parcels is a very good and highly recommended make. The owner of the company of a member of the forum. I will add a link below to her pellets, they do contain stabilized vit c and other nutrients. Personally I’d go with these over the hay hutch ones Piggie Pellets

C&C Cage or hutch in shed?

I think that hutches would work better in terms of insulation and keeping the piggies warm in winter. c and c would be really difficult to keep in the heat, keep out the drafts and keep the piggies warm enough through the colder times to come.

Lone boar- what do I do now?

...and 2 neutered boars). I don't know what would be the best way to go about in regards to housing him. For a bit of background, they're in 6ft hutches in a 7x5 shed. Top hutch: RB Jupiter and Apollo Middle hutch: Basil (neutered), Eris and Mia Bottom hutch: Cyril (neutered) and Blossom I'm...

Winter and the piggies & a little rumble

...those used to living outside - it’s too damp (in autumn), wet as well as too cold. If they do live outside, they will be tucked up warm in hutches for the whole of winter with a variety of warming and protection measures and with those hutches ideally being kept inside a shed or garage for...

C&C Cage or hutch in shed?

...protected inside. The shed is insulated. One big question - is your shed able to be heated? My shed is not heated. Originally they were in hutches within the shed. This worked very well as the hutches were also insulated as well as having blankets and thermal covers on them. Hutches were...

    Overnight paralysis in older pig

I have an older (approx 6yrs) female guinea pig who woke up with back leg weakness/paralysis this morning. (Not an Injury, indoor hutch all on one level.) She is slightly bloated but eating and poo-ing, poos are normal size and consistency. I have tried 6 veterinary practices, no specialists...

Current consensus on Kavee Cages UK? Any alternatives?

Hi, I'm having a bit of a stress out! I am moving to a bigger house and have been really looking forward to upgrading my piggies to bigger hutches. I always had in mind that I would get a Kavee Cage with a stand, however having seen some of their recent reviews on trust pilot, I am freaking...

Do your guinea pigs run away and hide when the hoover comes…

Mine are always in the run when the hoover comes so they don't really notice when I hoover the poops out of the hutch. They used to bolt for cover when the big noisy garden vac started up to hoover up all the escaped hay in the garage now they've realised it's not gonna hurt them so they just...
