I'm thinking of getting a shed with a hutch inside but they can rome freely during the day. What sort of shed shoukd I get? I see that insulating it will be important. Would the below work...

Have brought a nice big hutch with a run attached, the run has a base attached to it, a shiny base. How so I dress the run so my piggies have fun, was going to lay newspaper down but what to put on top of the newspaper? Will line the top part of the hutch where they will sleep with newspaper...

    Fly spray

Thank you everyone very much. I've decided to do a deep clean of the piggy hutch and their room before they go back in there. It's got rid of all the flies apart from one or two.

    Hutch reccomendations

I have a Chartwell 6ft hutch. My piggies used to be outside at my old house. When I moved to Dorset they went in the garage. I have adopted piggies from my local rescue and the Chartwell hutch was acceptable to them.

Cant Catch A Break - Help With Choosing Next Steps

...I would like to go for option 3 because it is the "safer" option of the 2, but I am just worried a life side by side (just short side of the hutch) isn't enough for them. I am also wondering if they will be happy to spend a whole day just inside the hutch. The current hutch I have is...

    Flooring for floor time?

I recently changed my spare bedroom into a guinea pig room.i put a dark grey soft cushioned flooring down.carpet was down originally, but hay stuck to it ,it was a pain. Previously my piggies had been outside in large hutches and covers, much easier having them inside.x

    Hutch cameras?

Thank you for the recommendation . My hutch is outside so i don’t think the wiring and Wi-Fi would work for that one .

Piggies got a new outside place

This is awesome. I’ve been highly considering building them an outdoor play pen or buying a hutch for outdoor fun

    How to line hutch

...the forum. Your piggies are gorgeous. 🥰 I’ve had outside piggies before but now I have the space indoors they have moved in lol. When I had a hutch/run combo I glued two pieces of wood to stop them falling down the ramp and this also stopped some of the hay and sawdust falling down too...

    New guinea pigs.

Here is our cage size guide. If your set-up is outdoors, then only the hutch space will count because that is what they have at night or on a rainy day. https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/cage-size-guide.120795/

    Ebony has gone🥲

Sadly, on Wednesday this week, I found Ebony in the outdoor hutch very poorly indeed. I took her straight to the vet's and she was pts. It looked as if she hadn't eaten for many hours and I can beat myself up but all too late now and unfortunately we will never know why she stopped eating. She...

    Chartwell Hutch

I have never had guinea pigs in a hutch so cannot advise you on a specific one, however my immediate thought when seeing this is does it have to be a hutch? If you have the ability to keep them in a different way then there are much cheaper ways of giving them more than a hutch for far less...

    Wooden Hutches and chewing

Hello and welcome to the forum. When I first put my piggies in their wooden hutch they gnawed it a bit. Then once they knew where the hay was they started to eat that instead. Charterwell hutches are the best for size and quality. Are your piggies outside piggies? Are they girls or boys. I have...

    Cage advice

...personally I would avoid it and always go to 180x60cm. A pair of boars kept in too small of a space will fall out. Only the bottom level of a hutch counts towards the living space. This is because piggies aren’t natural climbers and prefer single level living. An upper level is fine as a...

    Ophelia

Just an update: Betsie was sitting in the open, her side, and Ophelia came to the bars, whereupon Betsie ran away into her 'hutch'. They have each teeth-chattered at the other, at different times. I can't have them living side by side long-term as it creates so many complications. I had decided...
