    U-haul Blanket Questions

Thank you @lissie I’m afraid that as we are based mainly in the UK there are limited members with experience of UHaul blankets. Thanks so much for directing @Dog Cow to such a helpful thread.

    WHICH MATTRESS PROTECTORS!?

...has been answered many times before but I can only seem to find dead links to "Mattress protectors" being in the UK I can't get hold of Uhaul sheets which seem to be the go to, and have read Towels can be fussy to dry, (if anyone can vouch other wise I can work with that) but is there a...

    What is that stuff called?

...all cotton or more cotton than polyester as it wicks better. I made the mistake of buying one that was all polyester once by mistake and the wee wouldn't soak into the liner at all. Some people use zorb (expensive in UK), uhaul blankets or towels but these take a lot longer to dry after washing.

    The Cage Is (Mostly) Done!

...the loft with spare fabric and then reduced the number of potty pads. I also changed the lining of the hay box to a layer of foam, then 4x uhaul pads, and then a layer of fleece wrapped around that. A little bit easier to wash on a daily basis I'm hoping, since I've got so many furniture...

    Member Gallery: C&C cages/homemade cages

...is a perfect fit in the square grid holes, i make all my own cage liners myself by sewing 2 layers of fleece with furniture delivery pads (uhaul) in between which is a brilliant absorbent layer. I also make all my own hideys, cozy caves, tunnels, pee pads and haybags to keep costs down. I...

    Guinea Pig DIY Things

...my personal projects and keep posting them here. I've got a good chunk of things still to sew... 😅 Materials include fleece, cotton batting, Uhaul pads, and a cotton square+velcro. I do have a sewing machine as well, though I did make the Hay Bag and one practice hammock before getting it...

    U-Haul alternative?

I use mattress protectors, one large one chopped down into several cage sized. Uhaul is some sort of recycled denim type cotton, general moving blankets over here are not the same and won't work.

    U-haul Blanket Questions

Thank you so much! I’m guessing the fleece doesn’t have to be prewashed? Though I’ve heard multiple answers to this... I’ll definitely check out the website! Thanks again!

    Alternatives for pee pads?

I actually found a really cool shop on Etsy that sells cage liners. the shop name is SprinklePiggy and they have fleece and uhaul pads sewn together. They come in a bunch of sizes and you could probably custom order a few. They're really cheap as well!

Piggies arriving on Thursday: busily making fleece liners!

So you just change yours daily then and put in washing machine? I have purchased a c&c set up with a slope so need to fleece line the whole thing for grip too. What’s uhaul? Sorry to sound useless!

    The Cage Is (Mostly) Done!

It all looks stunning. I definitely wouldn't leave hay out for 3 weeks. It's their main food :-) I'd just put out fresh.

    U-haul Blanket Questions

Can someone please help? I need to find this out soon, as I’m trying to finish the liner by Sunday! Also, I’m sorry it says “you-haul”. I meant “Uhaul”, but autocorrect kept changing it.

    DIY cage liners

I want to make my own cage liners and as I cannot buy uhaul in the uk and zorb is too expensive I’ve been advised to use a mattress protector between my fleece. I’ve found these Slumberdown Waterproof Mattress Protector but just want to double check and make sure that they will work.

    Fleece bedding

Okay 😄 I must admit, when you see the liners all sewn together they look great to use! The fleece fabric I just bought recommends washing at 30degrees.. I guess so it doesn't shrink. If I made sewn liners and followed those washing instructions do you think they'd be ok? I'd have to add Dettol...

    U-Haul alternative?

Thanks definitely won’t try them then. So do you have just one layer of mattress protectors between your fleece or just the one?

    U-haul Blanket Questions

When I got my uhaul pads, I didn't sew into a liner right away. I was using it as loose layer for a long time. I don't know if washing multiple times will be needed before making a liner. The uhal pads shed a lot first few washes. Lots of lint in the dryer lint trap.

    Alternatives for pee pads?

I'm aware it's difficult to find this in the UK but if you are in the US or another area that may carry them, I stocked up on uhaul pads. Not certain of your location but there has been other discussion there in the UK as they are simple and about $8. I don't think anyone has found them there...
