    "Mystery disease"?

Hi all, Apologies in advance for the millions of details... One of my aby guinea pig, female, middle aged (rescued so unsure of age, had her for a year) seems to have as per my vet's words, a "mystery disease". She's called Penny, and is the most upbeat happy little thing. 10-7 days ago -...

    Adjusting ramp

I tried raising the ramp in my 6ft hutch when my piggies wouldn't use it, but it made no difference. Putting a cloth tunnel up the ramp helped them use it a bit more, but it is still mostly only used by my boar.

Thinking about adopting a loan boar to house next to a bonded pair of boars

Aah ok that’s good to know. I couldn’t remember what the treatment is that I bought that was specifically for piggies. I haven’t used any on my own piggies but I bought it as there was mice in the building which came from the neighbouring block of flats. A panic buy. I haven’t used it at all...

    Am I doing everything right?

It’s early days at the moment but you are going to see it, particularly If they are young and still to get to their teens! Once the teens hit at 4 months of age then things usually really start to ramp up. You will see mounting, rumbling, chasing etc I see from your picture that you have...

Bereavement and getting new piggies- Please help me stop overthinking...

No, I am afraid lofts don’t count at all. Piggies are ground roaming and any space connected by a ramp does not count. Your cage is therefore a 2x6 cage so is big enough for 4 piggies. 3 piggies need a 2x5 4 piggies need a 2x6. 5 piggies need a 2x7 6 piggies need a 2x8

    A few behaviour questions

Second question thread of the week from someone completely clueless. I recently adopted 4 females. I have no idea how old they are. They are all together in a bluebell hutch which is bigger than the one I got them from in (3ft) so they are used to being squashed in. Thanks to this forum I know...

    First night

Thankyou so much for this-yes one had gone upstairs and one downstairs and I've moved then together now and they are both running about the cage now and eating and drinking. They were together when we first put them in but then one went up the ramp and the other one didn't.

    covering a ramp

Yes I know what you mean. It might do but you may be able to put something on the side to make more of a banister? yes it’s grippy. (when I did use ramps) My boys wouldn’t use the ramp without it on.

    Guinea pig DIY stair

Haha yes they're quite creative that way. I think I will add another step to make it each step lower, so that they don't have to jump too high. That way hopefully they won't have any silly thoughts of jumping over the borders of their enclosure 🫣 Did your piggies ever jump out of their cage? I...

    Ramps

Hi! I am ever so sorry about your loss. We have got a Rainbow Bridge section for those members who feel that posting a tribute to a beloved one at any point during or after the grieving process would help them but there is no obligation to. The rescue with the ramp safety issues has highly...

Please help! Is this bumble foot?

T thank you! I looked around for a way to post a photo but that’s the only way I could figure it out. I'm definitely planning on taking them to a vet soon because I also need to get their nails trimmed soon!

Ideas needed! How can I make upper level safe on hutch?

I've never really had problems with guinea pigs around edges, except for one pig who would back off an edge. He was not the smartest, poor soul. All the other pigs I've had have been very careful about edges. I suppose they leave such a big hole to allow for rabbits. I agree that the best...

    Custom cage tips

I wouldn't use adhesive tiles. they use industrial glue. while the fumes aren't bad for us we're not an inch off the ground. either legit tile it or just go with the cut out. tiling it is gonna be way more expensive. it's why everyone uses coroplast. If you're gonna go corroplast insert just...
