    Is this Hay Poke?

I'm glad she is ok - nobody would have suspected Apple! Might start referring to it as foodpoke rather than hay poke just to cover all bases! I hope Pfannkuchen is ok

    Member Gallery: C&C cages/homemade cages

This is my 2 and a half storey enclosure with 6 square meters that I built out of an old wardrobe and some things that I had laying around, I only really bought the plexiglas and some screws from the diy store. It has only been in use since Friday with my newly adopted trio of Knäckebrot...

What to do about a steep staircase?

There are a few things you can do - make sure there is plenty of grip. The ramp does not look to have any grip so we would definitely recommend it is covered. Things like using Velcro to stick on pieces of carpet or vetbed really help. I like vetbed as it can go in the washing machine...

    Noodle learned how to jump

Bert and RB 🌈 pal Jellybaby used to love jumping onto the top of the carrot cottage - it had to be the large one so they could fit through the door 😂 now Bertie is a senior chap, the big cottage comes out at floor time and he has a little ramp to help him get to the top under supervision. His...

    Guinea Pig Apartment coming soon..

Are you actually having it as is on the picture? The first thing to note is that the ramps are not safe and the piggies won’t use them as they are. You will need to make sure they are fully covered with something so that the piggies are not walking directly on the bars - they are a risk of...

    Using wood shavings in c&c

Is it a piece of plexiglass you use? That's a great idea! I'm sold on the 4x2 with the loft to be honest. Fleece on the ramp and loft, shavings on the bottom I think 🤔 x

    Weight loss underweight unknown cause

Hi guys. I’ve used this forum for lots of things since bringing my piggies home but never posted. Sorry it’s going to be a long post! I’m worried about my pig Merry. I have 2x sows Merry and Pippin, presumably from the same litter. They were the same size, same colouring, and together in the...

    Bridge for a second floor

Ramps in Cages You may find something in the above link. When I had a loft in my C&C cage I used 2 bent grids cable tied together to get the length. Slightly overlap them to get the rigidity. I covered mine with extra thick vet bed, I think some people use a bit of carpet.

I will try herding them together thankyou. They are babies they are 8 weeks old, on the ramp there are wooden ridges so they can get a grip on them to go up if that makes sense? I have seen him start to attempt to go up but he got a bit spooked and gave up. Thanks for the advice again.

    Housing

It can take them a while to learn how to use a ramp. It’s not necessarily that they are separating themselves on purpose. Do you have two or more hides in the hutch? If you choose to remove the ramp then that is fine. Two storeys are not needed. Piggies prefer their living space to be...

    Giant run!

Hi, I currently have 3 piggy's- Eve & Whinnie are 4 months old & then Cookie is our old lady who is 6. In the next couple of weeks they will be moving into a permanent 12' x 4' run - its 4.5' high so I can easily get in and clean it and spend time with them. It has a solid roof and is on...

    Hay Box

There is not really a best age as such - piggies aren’t natural climbers so really it just comes down to whether he will use it or not. What is important is making sure the gradient is not steep, that the ramp has sides and that it has good grip.

    Cage size for three girls?

Oh that photo was taken right after I did a full clean. It was trashed too after 10 mins. 😂😂 The correx are just placed on top of the grids and not attached to anything at all. So I can remove it if I want to. What I made sure of though is that there are metal bars supporting the loft (see...

Repeated loss of upper front teeth

thought I'd update this thread, we finally saw it happening and realised what the problem is (not that we can solve it lol)! We saw him briefly chase after another piggie, trying to run after him and threaten with his head raised at the same time. He very inelegantly missed the entrance to the...

Cage Size for 2 separate boars.

I just use the Amazon Basics grids - make sure they are 9 hole grids. Amazon grids They come as individual grids not cubes like the picture so you can configure to the space you have. You will need to buy the cable ties (for more stability) and correx separately though. I did have a loft when...

    Adjusting ramp

We have a 5ft bluebell hutch from p@h but I think the piggies don't like the ramp.( I've put them.in the hutch in the daytime to get them used to it but they are still inside until it warms uo at night abit more. ) I've since realised its too steep. I want to adjust it by perhaps putting...

    First night

Have you tried almost herding them together. Unfortunately this would mean moving them around using your hands/arms to “herd” them. If Dustin was upstairs for example, I would urge him to make his own way down so they can be reunited, then herd them both towards the bottom of the ramp...

    First night

Those wooden ridges are rarely enough in their own. They are usually too far apart and too slippery in between them. I would put something either over the whole ramp or cut pieces and stick in between the ridges. As I say, I used Velcro and vetbed which meant it could be removed and washed

    Kavee upper level…

Hello! I was wondering, if anyone had time - if you have experience of having a ramp and upper level for your piggies - do your piggies use it much? Am just about to get the girls a Kavee upper level and thought I’d just have a last check here, before I take the plunge! Anyone got any...
