    Natural diet

Oh dear, hope that they are ok and dont die just eating grass and fresh forage until I can get to pick up hay on Wednesday. Thankfully, they do enjoy grass a lot more than hay, so are eating loads.

    Calcium balance

Yes their urine can be milky, it is calcium excretion. If it isn’t gritty then there is not usually any concern

    Is everyone

I think it's important to establish the difference between pellets/museli mixes and forage. Forage is a blend of dried leaves/herbs etc. which people give occasionally as a healthy treat. Pellets and museli are what's traditionally seen as 'guinea pig food'. I don't think many people feed museli...

Mom finally got up the courage to feel my pee. It wasn't gritty, thank goodness. It was gross and she said excuse me boys gotta go wash and left. But because it wasn't gritty I got forage.

Clever boy Patrick. That’s a good ploy to get extra forage 😁

    Sterile Cystitis

Hi It's probably a combination of all three changes, food-wise and medical. New foods/re-introducing foods after a longer gap when the digestive specialist bacteria have scaled down in numbers can trigger a flare in sterile IC unless you introduce them very slowly in a very small quantity (to...

    Which forage most delicious

I’m looking to buy additional forage and want to gather opinions on piggie preference . Which forage type have you guys had most success with? Thanks! I’m suspecting it’s down to piggie preference but would love to hear the experiences of others !

    Upper respiratory infections

Some steam in a bowl near the cage might help. Some forages have marshmallow in them and it helps reduce phlegm and mucus when put in the hot water. I hope your piggies get better soon. It sounds like they are very happy together, apart from the nasty bug ❤️

    100% hay pellets

...selective naturals grain free pellets :) and they also have veggies. Unfortunately they wouldn't touch the piggie parcels :( Regarding wild forage, i would like to give them fresh grass as well but i have no fresh grass in our garden to give them, is readigrass good to give in place of...

Members' product or suppliers recommendations (NO SPAM please).

I agree with the Buttercup water bottle holders! I tried lots of different types of holders, and they are the best. they hold tight against the cage but are very easy to take out for refilling. I also recommend Haybox for amazing quality hay and soft straw bedding. And their foraging treats...

Breakfast - straight from the garden

Been growing herbs and forage in pots/trugs for the guineas and it’s all suddenly shot up! So today the guineas are having grass, dandelion, strawberry leaves, camomile, plantain, clover, coriander, parsley, basil, lemon balm, kale and some of my salad leaves. Very satisfying!

    Going pellet free?

...in other veggies also. I also find being pellet free has given me leeway in being able to feed higher calcium veg a bit more. I feed dried forage several times a week. Dried forage sits alongside pellets in terms of proportion in the diet. So I feed a little dried forage instead of the...

    Going pellet free?

Thank you this is really helpful. I’ve always wondered if there’s certain health benefits to different dried forages? Like I’ve read some are anti inflammatory, some are beneficial for the bladder?
