Gave pigs potentially bad treat! Will they be okay?

...harmful in a small quantity, they just are of no nutritional benefit. Wheat isn't a natural part of a guinea pigs diet, but won't hurt them - but better for treats are the kind of forage foods they would find in the wild such certain herbs and flowers, which can be purchased in dried form too.

    Inactive pigs!

Most pigs will ignore toys! Their biggest form of entertainment and enrichment is foraging through big piles of hay

    Truffle and Polo

Small Pet Select. It's also wooden but the holes are big enough. Stripe plays with the lids before he gets the food. I put forage and pellets in it. Chez can't figure it out.

    Going pellet free?

...until recently. One of my boys has a painful jaw and I soften 1tbsp pellets in water which helps him maintain a healthy weight. My other piggy ( a bar buddy) and previous piggies have not been fed pellets, but instead have had more veggies or fresh/dried forage/grass, as well as unlimited hay.

    Going pellet free?

I buy my forage from Piggie Parcels. This is a small business run by a member of this forum. When she is next online, @Guineautopia may be able to give you more insight. I personally just feed the varieties that mine like with not much regard to any other properties they may have! Mine...

    Bullying Question

...see this kind of food guarding occurring. Instead we recommend scattering pellets just loose the cage floor and into hay so all piggies can forage and the others have no ability to guard every pellet, they can all move about the cage and find some. This also encourages natural foraging...

    Shimmer and Saffron

...seems to be Shimmer that enthusiastically chases Saffron. They love the soft timothy hay that I have and have tucked into the dried mix herb forage with enthusiasm. I even gave them a teeny bit of banana peel each. Shimmer puts her nose towards food now even when I am standing by the cage...

    pets at home forage

It looks to have pellets in there too - I’d avoid and those muesli type mixes I have bought forage from Pets at home but not this mix - they do pure plantain leaves As @Piggies&buns says it much healthier for piggies to have the safe leaves I’ve used Piggy Parcels and The Little Hay Company...

...a soft water area of the US (which is most of it). Do you ever see any "calcium wees" ie patches of white where they have urinated and it has dried? If not then you could add some more calcium veg if he like it. Alternatively give Chesney some favourite dried forage when Stripe has his pellets.

Why are our piggies so small? Is this weight normal?

We don’t actually recommend the use of food bowls. We recommend that their one tablespoon of pellets each and their veg portions are scattered around the cage and into loose piles of hay. This serves to keep them mentally stimulated by encouraging their natural foraging ability. Piggies...
