Back Injury And Struggling With Daily Cleaning/care

You're a star. Thank you for taking the time to type up that response. Hadn't thought about putting the newspaper on the bottom. Am tempted to try fleece liners. We did buy a "litter tray" when they firtst brought them home but they pee and poo all over the place, although do have a couple of...

Back Injury And Struggling With Daily Cleaning/care

just a thought but it may be easier if you put the newspaper on the bottom of the cage, under the puppy pads. i'm just thinking newspaper isn't always all that absorbent especially some of the more glossy papered ones, the wee would (if its going to) soak through the pads be on the newspaper, i...

    Mouldy Hutch

I just use the normal hutch disinfectant that you can get. My hutches are in a heated shed now. However during the winter, when my hutches were outside I would occasionally get mould patches on the "bedroom" roof. Do you have your hutch covered at all times during the winter or uncover during...

    Mouldy Hutch

I use cheap as chips Wilkinsons hutch disinfectant. Never had any problems. Plus, as my hutches are built into a heated shed and not standalone so they are always dry. I also have insulation between the shed and hutch walls. ;)

Thankyou I have opted for the drops aswell I will clean his cage thoroughly. I think he may have got the mites due to being an outdoor pig in his old home but please any info on how you treat your Guinea pigs and how you prevent the lice from coming back would be great and we spoke to a vet over...

    Please Help! Mites?

If you can see tiny worm like things wriggling then it is definitely lice. I hesitated with treatment due to some conflicting information online but Simon at the Cat and Rabbit clinic in Northampton said if you can see them they are definitely lice. Either a lice shampoo or ivermectin drops will...

Hi there, Well you are in the right place, there is a great list and information Member Gallery: Hutches Boars as you know need more room than 2 sows. It's important to ensure it's practical, risen off the floor, you can obtain hutch covers easily enough, the mesh/grid is robust enough to...

    Lice Alert!

Hi lovely piggy people, I am so confused. One of my piggies has acquired what I am fairly sure are running lice...lots of them on rump, and what i guess are egg cases, orangey see through in colour and long. Took both to the vet 2-3 weeks ago and vet was unable to catch any on sellotape but...

What Do You Put In Your Hutch?

I'm sorry if this is a really silly question but how do you clean your hutch? I use the newspaper to try and fold it all up into a package. If you don't use newspaper how do you clear out the old bedding? I find cleaning out the hutch a bit difficult and end up with more old bedding all over...

    Cleaning Up An Old Hutch

A good quality hutch disinfectant will do, I get mine from Wilkos for £2.50, you don't have to spend a fortune. Any nasties in the hutch will be sorted with a good diluted bleach solution and a liberal application of disinfectant. ;) Wilko Hutch and Cage Disinfectant Cleaner 300ml

    Cleaning Up An Old Hutch

Thank you @BossHogg & @jayne ! I was wondering if there was a way to clean it thoroughly without ordering f10. I'll price it up properly and have a think. Whatever's gonna protect the piggies! I'm really paranoid it's gonna stress them out or make them poorly if I'm not thorough enough! :S

    Cleaning Up An Old Hutch

Thank you! Would it be okay to use on wood d'you think? There'd be at least days, possibly a week, before any piggies would go into the hutch too, if that helps?

    Cleaning Up An Old Hutch

Hi All! I've purchased a used hutch; the wood is still sturdy, but there's some urine staining around the wood on the bottom of the 2 levels. What's the best way to disinfect, and neutralise the scenting on the wood? I've seen some people use vinegar, bleach, disinfectant, but I'd really like...
