    Solo Piggy Advice

I’m sorry for your loss When you get to the end of your piggy keeping cycle it is always hard to know what to do for the best. Of course you can add one if your wish (safety considerations met), but the reality is that adding a stuffed toy/stone figure isn’t going to provide any social...

...VERY annoyed that my Hooman removes them), breakfast pellets that I'm saving for later so that Saxon doesn't scoff the lot and tasty bits of forage. Sometimes I like to get my Hooman all flustered by getting hay seeds up my nose that she has to remove. I haven't yet perfected the art of...

    Hideouts and housing!

Thank everyone for the cardboard ideas. Especially with the hay! We have a winner! I also put some corn husks in as a forage too because atm it’s too hot here to have anyone outside for more then hour.

...toys are enrichment but they are not needed to keep the incisors short. The other 20-25% of the diet replaces the supplementary role of wild forage, but that includes 1 cup per piggy per day of fresh veg, forage and herbs (ideally no or very little fruit, tomatoes and carrrots), pellets...

...new bag was slightly damp and didn’t smell very nice. It’s the first time I’ve had a duff bag from Hay & Straw company so I can’t complain. It happens. Have also just ordered some treats for them - the hay cube is nearly destroyed so they’re getting a new one and a carrot cottage plus some...

    Urine problems- at a loss?!

@Wiebke I have dried forage that contains flowers, nettles, dandelion etc but I stopped as I was worried about the calcium- I'll try again in small amounts. She's currently on cystease, would you say the Johnson's 4joints is a better choice? She weighs 1.2kg. Swapping to the Johnson's would be...

    Two spoilt pigs 😊

It’s finally arrived. Thank you so much @Roselina 🥰 The boys can’t wait to try some of the treats. All in moderation of course as they are all yummies. Thanks again. That was very kind. 😍

    Fleece good or bad?

I wash the fleece in zipped horse blanket wash bags. I brush it first with a hair brush. They love both the hay area and the fleece area. The hay area is covered with a fleece blanket and I tend to mainly feed in the hay area so they get to forage.

...is also great, I think you mean reducing the soft hay and increasing the Timothy? One last thing if you have the patience to elaborate on the forage ☺️ we don't have a lawn so that's not an option, but what kind of dried forage would we be looking at, and what purpose does it serve in their...

    Hooting on and off

...prescribed (he was on 5 days abx before) i am hoping the longer course would do it. He has been hooting on and off for i would say 3 weeks now. Is it possible then to have a guinea pig who is very sensitive to forage? The forage i gave earlier was pure leaves and did not think it was dusty...

Last night mom came to refill our hay before bed. The cage was clean, fresh hay. What more could you want and she gave us some extra forage, too. I was just wheeking away. I was even behaving. The other day the dustpan fell on me at floor time and I was spooked the entire floor time. But I...

    Survivors Group Therapy

Urgent, mom just said I'm not getting pellets tomorrow. She thinks I'm having more fun with scattered forage and it has calcium in it. We've been foraging for ten minutes and Chez popcorned. She thinks we love it more than pellets, but I want both

What to put in stockings for pigges.

For our piggies stockings we put things such as hay cookies or dried forage. Like you say, a lot of things marketed for piggies are not good for them.....even some of the pet shop forage mixes have alfalfa in, which they should not eat. Also to look out for with pet shop treats/snacks, is...

General question regarding hay intake monitoring

Yes you do. You don’t want them to be left with only the bits they deem not good enough/inedible. Mine get new hay twice a day regardless of what condition the remaining hay is in - they want to be able to forage through fresh hay and adding fresh hay usually sparks their excitement

...5 and 8 pellets each) within 30 minutes of being given and then no more for a further 24 hours. As I say, I don’t give pellets at all now. Forage is a supplementary part of the diet given as part of the pellet portion (so totalling one tablespoon per day ie half a tablespoon of pellets...

    Forage

A small amount should be fine so don’t worry but I wouldn’t give it again I’m sure your piggies will love piggie parcels forage - mine certainly do!

    Stripe and Chesney

...nice to see. If I had to judge by eye, Stripe eats more hay. Chez poops more, though Both have gained weight and Stripe is almost 100 grams heavier. Chez doesn't get pellets and Stripe gets a teaspoon. The boys get daily forage and marigold instead. I think their treats have calcium, too
