Thank you!
She has now been on Cystease for a couple days. Within the first 12 hours of being put on it, I noticed a decrease in the amount of blood in her urine. Today is the third day of Feliway Cystease and I haven't found any blood in her urine (knock on wood). I have been giving her 1/2 a...
...symptoms are mild, so has suggested giving only low calcium veg (e.g. parsley only as a treat, no spinach, brassica etc) and Oxbowurinarysupport biscuits to help break down any crystals in there. When I told her about Hippo, she suggested giving him fennel bulb or dilute fennel herbal tea...
...care, or anything else to trick her with!). I use those when she has a flare. 125mg glucosamine each.
Haven't looked at the oxbowurinarysupport. She is doing a trial of 2 weeks of potassium citrate and hydrochlorothiazide because of a large amount of calcium crystals/red blood cells...
Larry has been back to the vets today as he is still squeaking when pooping, even though he has been on the top dose of metacam, as well as Cystease and Oxbow joint support tablets.
His bladder at the last appointment was very sore and inflamed with a lining 2cm thick!
This time his bladder...
...says its not an absolute proven management diet addition but it can't hurt.
We asked about glucosamine and the vet recommended oxbowurinarysupport biscuits which contain glucosamine as well as other good stuff so we are trying that too.
Thanks for the dietary advice, we thought we were...
Thanks! I bought the joint support and also some vita C, Digestive support and urinarysupport for her. I know it's a lot but I think at her age she may very well need it all. I will not give it all in one day though I'll make a schedule so it's one different tablet per day...monday urinary...
She's on a good dose of dog metacam then. Nobody likes baytril because it's bitter, but at least the volumes are small. I always follow my baytril with the metacam to try and get the taste away - and a sprig of parsley helps mine here too as they wouldn't eat coriander.
George had 2 cultures...
...been on the forum for quite some time! Primrose has had a mild cystitis flare-up and the vet today has recommended giving her OxbowUrinarySupport. However I've just been on the internet trying to find some to buy and every site I've been looking at is out of stock. I don't know if this is...
Thanks ❤️ He is still squeaking loudly when I pick him up, as careful as I try to be. But I'm sure the worst has passed. Tomorrow at 11.00 we're going to the vet. I bought a water filter, Feliway Cystease, his old urinarysupport tablets (German brand, doesn't have the sugary component the Oxbow...
Poor boy - it doesn't sound like is on a bad diet at all.
Basically any glucosamine will do. It works for joints as much as for the walls of the urinary tract.
Hello everyone! Happy New Year to everyone!
My boy Ray (5 yo neutered) has been with recurrent UTIs since I adopted him when he was 6 mo, he was very neglected. He has sludge on his bladder but nothing else. We have always treated him with the same antibiotics until the last time (november) he...
George has had arthritis for a couple of years and we have both the oxbow Joint Support (purple pack) and the UrinarySupport (yellow pack in your picture)
JS has about 90mg glucosamine per 'biscuit' and US has about half of that - 45mg. Cystease - if I remember right - has about 120mg but...
Wiebke’s full explanation above will help you here - no, he will not be ok just to take antibiotics and leave the stones inside. Urinary supplements or antibiotics are not going to do anything for the stones already there, they will continue to damage his bladder, cause pain and get bigger...
The forum recommends limiting food pellets to 1 tbsp per pig per day and filtering water to remove excess calcium if you live in a high calcium area. This is the thing to hang on to if you are worried about calcium and it has made quite a difference to us although one of my girls still...
Oh I'm sorry I should have been more specific - we use Oxbow joint support for guinea pigs. Look on Amazon. They're not cheap though.
These are like a little biscuit-y thing that they can crunch. I use these because George also has arthritis. They do a 'urinary support' version in a white and...
Hi thank you so much for your response and the kind words, made me cry quite a bit haha. I think I really needed to hear a lot of that.
I’m feeding him critical care about every 3 hours (and then once 6 when I need to sleep) for as much as I need to keep his weight above 1200 grams. Some days...
...bladder. Some people use feliway cystease which has to be sprinkled on the food. George has either Oxbow joint support or oxbowurinarysupport lozenges - a sort of one-a-day biscuit he enjoys crunching down. The arthritis ones actually have twice the glucosamine of the urinary ones and it's...
These have been recommended for our boy Miki by our vet, but there seems to be some national shortage - I can’t find them anywhere for their usual price!
Does anyone know of any alternatives?
