Potentially! They get the oxbox urinary support tabs but I could swap him to the jointsupport ones to see if that helps at all. He’s only 2 bless him 🥹
Just caught this while searching for a different thread - will link this in to another one for piggy arthritis.
George is a big fan of OxbowJointSupport lozenges - one a day has made such a difference to him!
George says glucosamine for arthritis. He's a big fan of his oxbowjointsupport biccies and he doesn't lay in his wee any more. But if I'm scooping out into a nice brown paper 'toilet' bag he does like to make himself at home in that!
...a couple of mls of water overnight and then syringed into piggy's mouth (half each morning/evening). Worth a try?
George takes oxbowjointsupport lozenges. The also do a urinary support one. Both contain glucosamine (90 in the JS, 45 in the US). They are like a big flat biscuit and my pigs...
...had no 'crystals' or sludge - we think the stone mopped it all up like a big snowball.
George was on glucosamine in the form of oxbowjointsupport (1 a day) for his arthritis which would also have supported his battered bladder as it's the same stuff as in cystease. At 90mg this was a bit...
Only one of piggies liked the Oxbow biscuits. Both my oldies take the 4joints without a problem. It takes a few weeks to show any improvement, so stick with it. Hope it helps your piggy to feel better.
I hope it’s simple enough too— response to antibiotics really can be so variable!
He had a large stone which had to be removed around a year and a half ago via cystotomy (while he was with his previous owners), and has been on the urinary supportoxbow treats since, so I think can definitely...
...a few months on that we also tried the glucosamine and it made a big difference to him - it surprised me how much. He loved the oxbowjointsupport biccies so that wasn't a problem - after about 2 weeks on it I thought I could see him being a bit more chipper but after a month he was...
George has glucosamine in the form of one-a-day oxbowjointsupport lozenges (purple and white pack, about £10) which he regards as a treat! There is 90mg glucosamine per lozenge. We had a tiny 1ml syringe left over from antibiotics so that's the one I use for the water. Like I say, he sits...
...was that he had arthritis in his knees and he was a bit stiff. He stayed on the metacam painkiller and a food supplement that contained glucosamine (Oxbowjointsupport - I got it off Amazon) for the rest of his life. He lived till he was 6 and he was a lively little trooper until the end 💕
When George was started on glucosamine for his arthritis (oxbowjointsupport lozenges) he lost about 100g over the first month or so and then stabilised, which worried me at first but then I realised he was actually moving about more because his knees weren't so stiff! At the time he wasn't...
Thanks for the recommendations! I started giving her the jointsupport a couple days ago and she seemed to really like it. I had been giving her the vitamin C oxbow tabs before that, which she had grown bored of and recently had been refusing to touch. All the tabs smell the same to me...
George likes his Oxbowjointsupport biccies with 90mg glucosamine in each - they're a treat for him! They are solid and crunchy though, so Edward would need to be able to enjoy crunching through one and that would depend on his dental situation. It was 2 weeks before we saw any noticeable...
...recommend a dose as it’s not a product for guinea pigs, and suggested I look for a guinea pig product. Finn DOES NOT like the oxbowjointsupport treats and he refused to eat them.
She also wants a urine sample to check if he’s okay to be on meloxicam, this is fine and I will get one as soon...
PS - I wonder if you could try soaking one so they are a bit softer... perhaps that is putting him off. They do CRUNCH quite loudly so it might be too much of a challenge?!
It's worth a try. I recently started Squeaks and Winfred on the OxbowJointSupport, as my vet thinks W has arthritis in her back legs, and Kim said S probably has arthritis as he is 6. W is also having some Cystease in critical care.
If I don't see improvement in mobility with those, I may give...
George is on oxbowjointsupport biscuits which have 90mg glucosamine in each. He gets a whole one every day - I also give a half to my girl Louise who is prone to gritty pee. They make a special urinary support lozenge but they have 45mg gluc. so I thought might as well just give her half of...
...when pooing which the vet has attributed to the arthritis in his hips.
He's already on the top dose of meloxicam.
Ive tried the oxbowjointsupport biscuits but he doesn't like them 😂
I have Cystease in from his friend Eric who used to have it daily. I've noticed this has more glucosamine in...
