    Washing Fleece Options

Hello everyone! I have a question about options for washing fleece. I just switched my three girls over to fleece but I have a dilemma. I do not have a washing machine at home. I have to take my clothes to a laundromat. However, the laundromat is expensive so I am looking for other options for...

    Outdoor Winter Setup Advice

Hi there, first time posting, seen loads of good advice here! 😄 I’m just hoping for some tips on my winter set up for my 2 outdoor boys. This forum seems to be more accepting of outdoor setups more than other places online. Current Hutch We currently have the house below that was given to us -...

Does the fabric conditioner bit of it stop the fleeces from wicking? Is it scented in any way? I am highly allergic to most artificial smells and my throat starts to close up and I can't breathe. Also my eyes water and the lining of my nose starts bleeding, its really delightful! I can only...

    Help with cleaning pigs bedding

I find if I don't move hay off the patch they've weed on it doesn't dry. My room has about 70%-80% humidity. I have a section with hay they bury in which isn't fleece bedding where I can remove the wet bits. They don't wee much on the fleece in comparison. A dehumidifier may help if your house...

    Recommended Carrier for car journeys

I was surprised that some of the budget hotels (Travelodge and ibis) allowed 'domestic pets, although £20 supplement for vacuuming the odd stray poo or peiece of hay seems a lot. The shower sounds like a good idea though. I just hope that, having gone over a year with wonky teeth without ill...

    Piggy pillow suggestions, please!

My three love those little fleece covered pillows you can buy from people on Etsy etc, but the ones I have are looking a bit worse for wear, and I don't think the person I got them from is trading anymore. Anyone got any ideas of where I could get some? Or any other clever ideas - they just...

    Cage cleaning

Yes, all fleece needs an absorbent layer. The fleece needs to wick the urine through to the absorbent layer underneath and the absorbent layer locks it away. Its quite normal to use puppy pads under fleece. What do you have under the fleece right now? A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding...

    Toby's not okay

Thanks for all your help. Sorry I didn't see your reply earlier. The vet said she would like us to syringe feed him with fiberplex which is marketed towards rabbits, she said there's little research been done about its association with guinea pigs so I was wondering if this would be a safe thing...

    The C&C Cage Curse!

I have a 6x2 c&c with a 2x2 loft for my 2 piggies, plus they run around freely in the living room so other areas they frequent have separate fleece bedding and bobble bath mats too. I wanted to buy new fleece bedding and other stuffs for them, but then I always think where would I store them...

    Cage cleaning

Have you been using the fleece since you got the piggies though? If so, then they will have been washed multiple times by now so they should be wicking by now. If you buy any new fleece, then it needs to be washed three times you put it into the cage otherwise it won’t absorb urine. Please do...

    Warning: Freezing UK nights ahead!

If my living room is constantly around 20 degrees c do I still need snuggle safes? I put deep piles of hay in and there's plenty of hideys, plus a large fleece forest covering 2x1 grids. At night it hasn't dropped below 18 in the living room. I've had pigs for 5 years but this is the first...

    Outdoor Winter Setup Advice

Hi there, thanks for the reply! Oh no! That's a bummer :( Thanks for letting me know. It was given to us so I just assumed by its size it would be more than big enough! The entire downstairs area is approx 150x60 (only slightly smaller than the 180x60). If I get some wood cut and boxed-in the...

Arthritis in guinea pig (no mobility)

Thank you so much for all the input and kind words. My biggest fear is feeling like I'm selfishly keeping her here when her quality of life is not great. It gives me hope to know that maybe getting the pain under control, I might be able to give her quality of life even if her mobility is gone...

    Cage set up

I can see from the photos that the size is 5x2. The base seems fine to me. Just for me personally this would be way too messy. You can buy a large plastic storage bin for under the bed (flat). Cut off part of the front. You can put all the hay in here (with newspapers or bedding underneath). It...

    Wipes and oils.

I pick up the poops 4+ times a day. He has clean blankets and pee pads twice (full fresh hay pile twice a day) a day and his Kavee liner is changed out twice a week. His area is as clean as I can be. I’ve ordered some water based (99. water) baby wipes from Amazon. How can I soak his...

    Very stinky boys

I too have reactions to a lot of products although my issues generally tend to affect my skin. I tried the eco egg after someone recommended it and I have had no problem. The scent is very subtle, obviously I cannot guaranty you won't react. It doesn't stop my fleece from wicking.
