    Bedding Choices

Hi we recently just changed our boys to x3 Layer Fleece liner, and we spot clean every day, and change and wash the fleece every 4 days. But we was wondering if there is a way or a bedding that we could add to the fleece that would reduce the smell as we have just changed the bed recently...

    Fleece bedding & alternatives?

I am a late convert to fleece - I used to have a similar kind of set up to yours (i.e. lots of different layers and then a fleece blanket) but found it quite messy and the pigs would invariably get all the layers mussed up within minutes, so I stopped. I've since tried shavings, megazorb...

How often do you replace fabric bedding?

Replace as in buy new. Things like washable incontinence pads, bath mats, fleece, vet bed.. How long do you generally get from these before they need replacing? Thanks :)

    Bedding

If you want a cheaper fleece option, check discount stores for cheap fleece blankets, especially blankets intended for pets They are usually even cheaper than buying fleece by the yard! I don't really understand that, but that's how it is. I don't know how well the made-up fleece liners cope...

Unexpected loss of guinea pig, need some advice.

Hi everyone, apologies in advanced if this is not done correctly or seems all over the place. I know I am probably overthinking some things right now so any help is very much appreciated! On Monday I, very unexpectedly (and extremely traumatically), lost one of my guinea pigs, Blossom, leaving...

    Bedding check

I use newspaper under my fleece liners/noodle bath mats but I buy the newspaper anyway to read. I suspect it would be more expensive than puppy pads if you didn’t 😂 The C&C cage is lined with a correx base.

    Heat pads for outdoor cages

I thought it was the whole thing, I am very new to buying items on line, thought it was the heatpad and the cover and you chose what cover you wanted, oh well looks like I have done it wrong again, story of my life. But on the plus side I will already have a spare cover if it fits the heatpad I...

Show us a picture of your piggies's favourite fleece hideys?

Sometimes the oldest fleece tunnels are the most loved ones. The cubes are great. I wish I could sew my own fleece hideys. On the other hand, I would probably have to look for a bigger place to live. Imagine how much fabric I would probably buy in addition to my wool collection.

    Cage setup

I'm probably going to be adopting 3 guinea pig sows soon and in a 5x2 c&c cage Would the following be good for them as they bedding and toys? Also could you recommend some fleece blankets/liners, where to buy hay (meadow) and toys from? thanks...

Bramble 'Happy' after Brothers Death :/

Thanks, I'm actually getting very anxious about it, as I do about so many things! 🙄 I know the day will be here before we know it and I know I won't sleep well the night before worrying about it. I absolutely hate having a lone pig, I feel so sorry for Bramble and really want it to go well for...

Are plywood houses/hideys safe to use?

Thanks for your reply. Yer the fleece tunnels I've been looking at say they are made of teddy fleece and wadding. I'm always so cautious now when it comes to buying things with people selling stuff that is not safe.

    Bedding Problem

I pay £7 for a 20kg bale of snowflake Puppy pads underneath is absolutely fine. It needs to be wicked though - it won’t work if you don’t do that. It also needs to be the right type of fleece, as not all will work at all A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding

    Soft hides.

I used to buy them from ebay sellers at around £10 each but found they don't wash well. I have some that are years old from Fuzzbutts they are more expensive but really well made and wash and wash and wash. They have two doorways which are great for boars and my boys love them. There's a thread...

    How to dress the hutch

You can use fleece bedding outdoors (from experience) but it needs to be a playhouse or shed that isnt directly explosed to the element's so in your case fleece will not work out. Best to Line the hutch with some vinyl floor but dont glue it down! as long as you cut it as aprozemity as you...

The smell oh the smell 😷

If you are removing fleece then yes every other day could be too much and causing them to scent mark even more. Boars need to feel they are still in their territory and by removing their smell too much you make it worse for them. I use F10 as a cleaner. It’s a vet grade disinfectant and I...

    Washable Bedding options

You can just get cheap fleece (fleece blankets from discount stores are cheaper than buying fleece by the yard, don't ask me how that works) and then lay it over an absorbent layer and tuck it underneath. That's the budget option and that's what we used for years. Now we have home made mats made...
