The little man's back home minus a bladder stone attached to a piece of the stitching from his last op! It seems the calcium crystals had attached themselves to the suture inside his bladder. Lets hope with a low calcium diet and no suture to attach to he'll not have the same problem. (fingers...
We're not in a hard water area but it wont hurt to filter it. He does drink plenty. Will try Pearl Barley, I'd forgotten about that. mallethead Graze On can go! Shame cuz piggies love it. Will check out the veggie calcium content. Thanks for your replies. Anymore suggestions welcome. :)
He's fed fresh meadow hay, Waggs Optimum guinea pig nuggets, a selection of veggies including carrots, parsnips, peppers, cabbage etc. and Graze On dried grass.
Michael, a 6 year old rescue piggy, had a large bladder stone removed on 18th Oct. Less than 6 weeks later and he's due to have another one removed tomorrow!
Has anyone any suggestions to the kind of diet I can give him to prevent this happening again .... so soon.
I'm doing my own research...
So sorry little Maisie has lost her battle. It must be a terrible shock to you all but you did the little lady proud with so much love and care. Popcorn free beautiful Maisie.x x>>
So sorry you're under such a strain at the moment. Your beautiful little daughter must be a source of great comfort. Children help us deal with problems with their innocent acceptance of a situation, deal with it, then move on. If only we adults could be that pragmatic, unfortunately we have to...
So sorry Wiebke. A fantastic age but all the more missed. Please take comfort from the love you gave and received from this special lady. Thinking of you and David at this sad time. xx
Great idea SophRuss5. If your father is allergic, you could take them up to your bedroom out of his way. Have you not got space in your bedroom to keep them in during the winter months? :)
I've just read up on ovarian cysts and that certainly seems to be what Phoebe had. Could be what Marmites starting with. Another trip to the vets I feel, but this time I'll speak to the more clued up vet!
That's for the quick response.
Phoebe had crusty teats. The cream helped but the crustiness came back. Phoebe died a few months ago. :(. Now I've noticed Marmite's teats are dry and shrivelled but not crusty. It could be that it's only just started and hasn't developed to crust yet? She seems fine in herself.
Really pleased the girls are settling together. It was lovely putting a face to a name today.
The boys are here with me in the lounge. They have been out eating and are now snuggled up together. One of them, I've called him Michael (my 29 year old son named him!) sounds like he has a UTI...
Has anyone had a problem with their sows teats drying up and becoming scaley?
The vet gave me some fungal cream, which helped a bit, but as soon as the cream stopped it came back again. I think the cream helped because it moistened the area but it doesn't cure it. It doesn't spread anywhere...
My daughter rang me up crying, she had lost her wedding ring. They had only been married a year! I went over to her house and asked her to retrace her steps. She said she had done some jobs around the house and emptied the waste bin into the wheely bin. Guess who donned the rubber gloves, took...
Thanks, looks like a good website with some great prices. Will have to give them a buzz and see what they can do for a bulk buy. Rabbits, piggies and dogs!:)
