I know with hamsters the hamsters that can live together need two of everything so they don't fight or get bullied. I heard you have to do the same with guinea pigs but i really wasn't sure if it was true since the person who told me tends to make up things to sound smart. so is this true or false?
Thx!

Yes, it is true. They need two of everything to avoid any fighting.

Yeah they do need two of everything so they don't get territorial, two hideys two food bowls two water bowls two lots of food :)

I've never used 2 bowls or water bottles for 2 piggies! Ive always had girls, not had a problem in 12 years! I would always have 2, if not, 3 tunnels/beds etc. I have more bowls and water bottles if I have 3 or more piggies.

I find it depends on the pigs, when I started with my initial two I only had one of everything and the youngest kept getting injured from cuddling up too much to the older one so I went and got extra's. By the time I had 4 I got more water bottles but only ever used one bowl for veg and two bowls for pellets and not had any more problems.

The general consensus seems to be that boys need multiples as they're more likely to squabble over food, safe space and water, whereas girls have a hierachy established and are more likely to work out a system. Queen gets first pick :)

i have two boars, and although i do put in two beds and they have a variety of toys, they have 1 food bowl and 1 water bottle. I scatter feed their veggies, and they share it all. They don't fight over the bowl or bottle. They'll even eat out of the bowl at the same time, but they wait their turn at the bottle. :) maybe i'm just lucky they get along so well.

My two boys are the same. :)

Generally, two of the same is a good way of minimising dominance disputes and allowing the piggies to get away from each other. This is even more important for boars.
