Anyone built their c&c cage using wickes 2mm thick correx? If so could you tell me how you found it. I used to have a c&c cage which was made with 4mm thick correx but I'm finding it hard to source for a reasonable price.

I'm thinking of buying the correx today.

Anyone who is interested in it here is the link: Proplex Surface Protection Sheet 1200mm x 2400mm | Wickes.co.uk

I found the 2mm hard to score. I kept going right through it. I ended up getting the Protecta Board 4mm.

The 2mm correx worked perfectly, I scored it with scissors carefully and used pieces of wood to help fold it up once scored. I would make it out of 2mm correx again as it's so easy to get hold of. You wouldn't be able to make any ramps out of it but with C&c supporting sides it's perfect :)

Glad you got on ok with it, I must have been too heavy handed!
I can see it being very easy to go through with a knife. The 4mm will obviously be better but I'm happy with the 2mmand it's very cheap so easy to replace if it gets ruined

I'm having a tough job finding correx locally to build a new enclosure for the piggies but had a look at the protecta board link. Can anyone tell me, does it arrive as a flat sheet or do they fold it? I'm presuming if they fold it then its ruined?

I picked some up at Homebase the other week (the 2mm stuff) It comes flat, and I rolled it up. It did get a few bends in it.

Folding it isn't the end. My last lot came folded lengthways. It doesn't look so tidy, but it doesn't completely ruin it.(In this case, I am talking about 4mm)

thank you - I wasn't sure about the 2mm stuff either but the boys are getting to the age where they need the space so I now have to work fast! They are currently in a large traditional cage and come out into a child's ball pit for daily exercise/running around time. I have my grids but I was worried the piggies were too small and might get stuck in them so will be giving them extra height correx until they've grown a bit. I was worried a fold might weaken the board... I'll just order it and stop worrying :)

It comes folded in half - not ideal - but manageable

thanks - as a new piggy parent there is a lot to learn in the first few weeks alone so it's good to have found this forum to be able to find quick answers. I'm building a 5x2 with 2 upstairs lofts - one will be for their food and the other will hopefully be for sleeping or a toilet but they have their own agenda about that! I've got them a litter tray and they always go in the opposite corner... bless them!

I don't know if anyone noticed but the link also has 4mm the cheapest I've seen it.

This is the cheapest I’ve seen. Cheaper than the 2mm I’ve seen. Which is why I’m confused. Does this come as one 2.4mx1.3m peice or a few separate pieces? Thanks

Just realised, you can’t order no less than 10.. bit of a pain in the bum really. Just have to go with 2mm like you Demi. Just have to be careful with it, I suppose. So 2mm is more likely to crack when you bend it. Is that what people mean?

When your score it be really careful you could go straight through it. We had the piggies in the 2mm for about 8 months until we put them outside. We will be buying some more for next winter. It worked well for that long. If I had them inside all year round I would just get new correx every year as it is a little more flimsy but it worked well for the cage.

When we went to wickes we just rolled it up and put it into the car to try and not bend it.

I have just bought a sheet of 2mm too as cant get it anywhere else at 4mm. Will see how we get on, only really using it to extend the cage but ill take it carefully!

Couldn’t find it on wickes website. Maybe I’ll have to take a trip in. I’ve found it on amazon for £11 odd. 2mmx2.4mx1.2m. Ill just try n be careful with it then. Thanks. Hbecooper, let me know how it goes

They have it in Homebase too. I used it for a while. I got them to roll it up and it fitted in the car.

This is the link its not called correx but its the longer 2mm thickness. On website they do a translucent one but its only 1m wide i think. This is the one i got will either do it tomorrow or weekend x Proplex Surface Protection Sheet - 1200mm x 2400mm | Wickes.co.uk

Ahhh what?! Ordered the amazon one! Could of saved myself a few quid. Tut oh well! Thank you, least I know where to go in future. Knew I should have gone in there first. Just having time to go. Okie I’ll keep a look out. Piccie would be good aswell :) x

I use(d) the proplex from wickes and it does the job for me. I bought two sheets and still have some left over after making the cage base, loft bit and a (now disposed of) hay tray. I think I used a pen or something to score it.
