hi there, I'm a newbie to the site, and have just recently (this week) taken on my first guinea pigs. Four boys who are all living together in a large hutch. So far i haven't noticed any fighting, they talk away to each other and huddle up in their liitle house together. But from everything I'm reading on here, that shouldn't be the case:{ Am I just fortunate, or is it the calm before the storm? They were part of the big rescue of over 70 GP's in Telford, and apparently are already bonded as a group. I'm very confused lol.

I would leave them for now and see how they go, they may be ok. I'd give them four of everything if possible. If they are young boars then you may have a problem when they hit the hormonal stage but if they are over that they may be perfectly ok.

Good luck with them! :)

If they are fine together now I would leave them be and just keep an eye on them, and as Sunshine says just have more than one of everything, i would be tempted to have 2 large food dishes, 2 water bottles and spread out their fresh food when you give it to them so they can all get a bit and not all go for the same thing.

Ive had 5 living together sucesfully for a few years untill one bonfire night when one got scared ran into the back of the other, spooking him making him jump around and go for the one whod just ran into him, resulting in a very bad eye wound, resulting in the eye comming out , they were seperated then but into a trio and a pair and all lived happily for the rest of their days like that.

Its just a case of getting to know your boys and keeping an eye on them just incase they might need seperating, best to have an extra cage/hutch on stand by just in case

I have three boys living together (who are currently stinking the cage up with boar-stank as we speak.)

My cage is very big - yours should be bigger for four boys who will grow up soon. I have two food dishes because mine share well and three water bottles because the dominant pig likes to be a jerk sometimes. I also have a holy-huge hay rack so they won't fight over one spot.

Just keep an eye on them, until blood is drawn everything before that is fine as they will start to organise their hierarchy.

Haha boar stink don't you just love it! Twinkle does that too and Radley. They have different smells! :(|)

LOL, I have noticed the hutch is a bit on the whiffy side :)) But not a problem to me. My boys hutch is over 6 foot long, but at the moment they just seem to live in one little corner of it bless them. Will get another water bottle tomorrow, and another food dish. Will look for another hideyhole as well. Thanks for all the advice :)
