Hi! A few weeks ago I went and I got supplies to make a c&c cage, at the time there were no guinea pigs near me i could get to to rescue . i went to petland and got my first two guinea pigs Milli and Luna (Luna is pregnant most likely and due any day now) they have been very content in their home, 2 days ago i brought home 2 more sows (Lilac & Dabs) they are about 1 and a half months old, i found them on craigslist and theyre very happy and healthy little pigs. they have gotten along pretty well for the most part. i'm educated on guineas for the most part but i could use a little experience guidance . My first two sows are apprx. 9 months old? petland really didnt care for them or give me info.

I am wondering if there are any good websites that i can order better huts for my pigs

Is my pregnant sow going to feel more stress because of the new changes with the little ones?
When the pups are born is there anything is specific i could do to help or do anything after (if nothing during)

I have read a lot and have the gist of caretaking and the basics but if anyone could give me some pro tips on care and bonding with your pigs to get them to stop being so squimmish it would be appreciated a lot! thanks(:luna1.webp

Hi! I have answered on your thread in the pregnancy section. As your girls have already bonded and are in the middle of the hierarchy sort-out, I would not interfere further. You may have to separate Luna at need. It would be good if you had a separate accommodation ready to make up quickly whenever needed, especially if you are facing the prospect of babies. With a larger number of piggies, a hospital cage on stand-by comes in handy, too!

You can make your own huts out of cardboard if you need more housing quickly; they are usually quite a favourite, as they get eventually chewed down... Chubes (cardboard tunnels) are also coming in handy for lifting out piggies. https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/videos/

This thread here may help you with the behaviour side: https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/sow-behaviour.38561/

thank you! sorry for so many threads i'm pretty sure this was my first one i was a little confused. thanks for the patience and help

Awww how exciting! Where in the states are you? I can't wait to see pics of the babies.

I ordered cute beds off of eBay. Hidey huts.

You can machine wash them ect. Just search guinea pig beds on eBay or even under Guinea pig fleece.
