My 6 week old Tilly isn't well, she was fine yesterday but today she's limp and hardly moving, dosen't want to eat, dosen't want water and keeps spasming... her mum (Biscuit), Martha (other older female gp) and Martha's two girls who where in same cage/run are all fine. Her dad (Logan) and his brother Weasly in another cage/run are fine. Her two brothers and Martha's 3 boys, (moved away from mums 2 weeks ago) in a third cage/run, appear to have mites and I was planning on popping to vets tomorrow to get treatment for them.

It's Sunday I live in Leitrim Ireland, there are no out of hours vets here, I will take her fist thing tomorrow (if she makes it through the night) please help.

She has pooed 3 tiney (as she is) lumps, slightly wet but formed well, sge also urinated a tiney bit too, I tried using syringe to get her to drink but she spat it out. I'm doing my best to keep her warm, I've set up the quarantine cage for her, though I'm just holding her... she sounds like shes trying to be sick, but it might be belching or gasping.

Please is there anything else I can do to make her live through the night before I can get to a vet?
Can anybody give me any idea what might be wrong with her?

Sorry for typos/spelling... stressed dyslexic isn't a good combo

I'll try adding vids if I can figure out how

Do you have any critical care you could give her if she isn't eating? I think to post videos you have to upload them to YouTube and link them over. As far as I know Guinea pigs are incapable of being sick, is there anything stick in her mouth? Sorry I can't help much, I'm sure someone more experienced will be here soon

She's gone to the rainbow bridge.... sorry for wasting your time.... she went in my hands... there was nothing I could do to stop it... I had checked her mouth earlier, no blockages... I don't know what was wrong, I couldn't help her, I tried everything I knew, I warmed her up I offed food an water and water with vit C stuff... I tried

I'm sorry 😔 you did what you could. You can take her to a vet, they might be able to find out what happened. If it's any condolence to you you can put a thread for her in the rainbow bridge section of the forum, please don't blame yourself x

Thank you.... this is second time I've had a gp get sick (and then pass) when vats aren't available last time it was a bank holiday... I might put a post up later for her, she was so sweet... I'll speek to my vet tomorrow and see what they think it was but my mum ( who started training as vet before she found out ahe was allergic to cats) thinks it was gas that might have been building for ages without symptom... I can't afford an autopsy I've 11 other gps who need food and mite medicine... I know it's not my fault logically but I dosn't stop me feeling like I should have noticed somthing sooner

Guinea pigs are very good at hiding illness 🙁 you might be able to get mite medicine cheaper online than at a vet, if it is gas then her stomach would probably be firm so you might be able to check for yourself

She was a bit bloated, so think it probably was that. My vet is fairly cheap, they run the practice because they like animals so they don't mark up meds, and only charge enough to keep the place open for their time. Think when I got mite meds plus anti biotics for 3 adult gps last time it was only about €40 and that included her looking at them.

Fair enough, I'm used to my vet costing £40-70 just for a check up, no meds or treatments
