A close shave...

Built a temp run out side for the girls and they were having a ball wheeking and jumping in the grass and sunshine.

Then I saw out the corner of my eye Figaro our cat stalking them, it was a close shave but I got to the cat first!

Have purchased a metal out side run with a net cover! Hopefully they will be safe.
 
We had cats a few years ago but they never bothered with our piggies at all. Maybe Figaro is just curious as to what they are.

Sounds like they are having a good time in their new pen. We have a metal pen too but the net ripped so I just peg a fleece over part of it now to give them some shade from the sun.
 
i made a big run for my older piggies out of white plastic border edging that you just prod into the ground i have 2 cats but I'm usually sitting in the run to as it is really big!
 
If the cat is determined to get the piggies a net cover will not stop him. You would be better with a solid cover. We have a metal pen and they are so handy but as we do not have a cover they are never left unattended. As I am sure yours aren't.

I second this advice a net is no protection what so ever. Only a solid lid will portect them from ALL preditors eg Foxes are cunning and sly birds can be another problem magpies are the worst for it.
 
i have a metal run with a metal lid.. someone made it out of a fire guard and gave me it, and its really good!
My cat Harley-blue doesnt bother with them, apart from to snuggle up on my knee together which is sweet but i make sure i supervise.. dont trust him 100% just in case..
We had netting over our pond, but the rabbit fell through it, so had to take the pond out.. if you can, id get a proper cover over the top.

Cheers for this guys... Figaro is a lovely cat and much loved by the family but he is and always has been one hell of a hunter, the remains of rabbits and birds has alwya appeared over the summer so as much as we love him I do not trust him around the girls.

Once the pen arrives I'll make a wooden top for it, better safe than sorry!
 
If my guys are outside they are always supervised by someone. We have even had adders in our garden, so they have to have someone with them.
