Okay, more than one thing to say.
Firstly, my mum is sick of all the sawdust, so the pigs are probably going to come in my bedroom! this is great, because we'll possibly change the cage to make it more accessible, bigger and better! also if they come into my room they will be able to have a lot more floor time and cuddles. Plus with more space and without a door on the cage (if anyone knows of Momo's cage, that's what my pigs aspire to) they can have more toys, towels, and space to stretch their piggy legs.

:<>

Second thing, I'd like to show you some pictures of Poco and figgy's floor time yesterday. They were so happy to be running around!
Unfortunately, the computer won't read my memory card at the moment, so I'll have to get back to you all on that front.

Have you thought about changing from sawdust to fleece? You can get cheap ployester bed throws and baby blankets as well as cheap towels in many places. Best get a cheap or old duvet cover to wash them in, so the hay and hairs do not mess up the washing machine.

But it's a lot less messy!

I had thought about it actually, but I wasn't sure if:
1) fleece would soak up their mess, and it wouldn't rot the wood
2) where I could buy cheap fleece in bulk
3) I'd keep having to wash the fleece all the time

I suppose if I bought about 30 fleces I could just change them a lot and only wash them twice or three times a week...

Photos should be coming soon~

More to come~

i personaly just use newspaper it soaks up well and you can just use old ones! Don't use saw dust unless it is thick not fine. it gives them sneezees:(

I bought a huge fleece about 5 foot squared for €3 :))
I'd say you'd get a great deal in the kids section in Primark, lovely colours too!

We use newspaper and a combination of straw and hay, works much better than the sawdust we used to use, and our piggies seem happier in it.:)

i use...

this isn't too common but works really well i use two layers of towels and 2 layers of newspaper underneath , works really well for me and is just as cheap as fleece throws really :) i love using towels and so do my guinea pigs :))

oh and i think your guineas pigs are cute just as all g-pigs are really rolleyes
hehehe. ** luck with them in your room.

Thanks to all for the posts!

uhm, I talked about towels and fleece with my mu, she said:
"I tried all sorts of things with the rabbits before and, you know what those pigs are like, they just scuff it up, move it around and eat it"

I do use very thick layers of sawdust but they do sneeze.
Is there a way I can prevent them from moving fleece and towels around?

More pigtures? :<>

While Figgy was being cuddled by Romy...
What's that over there?

Hmm, that sounds like a good idea, thanks!

I just cleaned them out yesterday and thanks to their new kitchen area their wee is very well contained, so I can't change them now, it would be a waste.

They're a little quiet, I guess stressed by the move, but with some grass in their toys I lured Poco out!

Aw, thanks so much~

So we gave them a little floor time just outside the cage, but Poco kept wanting to jump back in! (he bashed his head against the chicken wire a few times, the stupid animal!) :(
I guess he'll get used to having floor time near the cage.

So, with the moving process over I think they are finally settling down to their new surroundings.

It was lovely and hot today, but I didn't want them into the garden until they are more used to grass.

Hey,
Now that the pigs have been in their new home for almost three days, I thought I'd give you an update.

They seem to have not been bothered by the change of surroundings. The haven't been at all stressed, in fact they have been enjoying the huge window that is in my bedroom.
They've been bought new storage containers and new towels, and I've been bought new rugs! (so that I can easily clean my room. The rug I had before was big and heavy, but the new ones are light and easy to pick up and shake out of my window).
Now in my room I have to keep a bin for cleaning, two big plastic storage containers for hay and sawdust, two large Tupperwares (not real ones) for dry food, and 4 small ones for treats, meds and anything else.
Tip: Ikea is great. Many containers and related things are available there.

With much less space in my room (the only things I got rid of were my bedside table, swapped it for a smaller one, and my chair) I had to find space for some things. I don't mind that my room seems smaller, somehow when I look a those two faces it stops mattering! :<>

The cat is the only family member who is concerned about the guinea pigs being in my bedroom. She would dare hurt them, they are much too big a pray for her, but they scare her a little. She's a VERY good hunter so it surprised me that she's so jumpy and scared around them. I guess it's the noises they make.

Thanks for reading.

There may, and I'm not promising, there may be some more pigtures coming!

More pigtures?

I think we need more pigtures.
