My two guinea pigs are currently living in a bluebell hideaway hutch in the garage - it has insulation round the sides and top.
But we have discover a mouse that we think is playing about near the hutch - there could be a pile of dirty bedding and stuff under the cage from a gap in the wood.
If the mouse was to get into the cage or near the guinea pigs what would happen, would it bite my guinea pigs, kill them or would it be scared of the guinea pigs - i can’t stop worrying about it getting in the cage or hurting my guinea pigs or letting them escape or scaring the life out of them, anyone have any idea of what could happen or how i could advert anything happening xx (yes this has been posted on another section )

I doubt a mouse would bite at guinea pig, I think they go after grains and insects. It'd be rats to worry about biting. But mice can sorwd deseases through their urine, so try and get rid of them

I agree with skypipdotbernie about trying to find a way to get rid of the mouse. At the end of the day as well as spreading disease in their urine I would be concerned that they may ingest poison at a neighbours house and bring it around your piggies so it would be best to create a mouse free zone. You can also help by limiting pellets and only feeding them once a day instead of leaving a bowl of pellets there, also provide their veggies and remove what hasn't been eaten in a certain time limit to try and prevent the scent of food encouraging the mouse

ok i’m sorry, i didn’t know the rules 😕
Thanks for the reply xx

Definitely agree with others, you need to get rid of the mice. They could /will make your piggies sick. Bear in mind they can get through tiny gaps.x

Definitely agree that it is best to get rid of the mouse - you can try a humane trap if you want to catch and release it in the wild but make sure to do so a long way away so it doesn't come back. Peanut butter is the best bait for mice. That or chocolate. Can you tell I'm used to catching them?
