This is a questions for all the rescues on here. If for example someone signed some guinea pigs over to you, then went and got more, then asked you to take the next lot would you help them second (or even third/forth) time around? ?

That is such a difficult question to answer, I'm not sure really .............would depend upon the individual concerned I suppose.

I would hope that I would be able to have some influence upon them and work with them to discourage any further buying. They maybe need some guidance and educating!

Rescues are there though to pick up the pieces of other people's mistakes, maybe it's not for me to question how other people lead their lives but just to be there for the animals when they are in need, for me the animals are the most important part of the equation, they always come first.

I have had a similar problem with cat rescue, over a period of a year I took 6 cats in total off an unsuitable owner and each time she got another. Eventually I had to call it a day for my own sanity, I realised it would be like trying to stop the tide coming in, so I had to walk away. It's not something I did lightly but I know I did the right thing even though it felt wrong.

Are you having that problem at the moment can I ask?

I have been unfortunate to come accross 2 people like that recently. Both continue to do the same thing over and over and I have got to the point where I say no. Its very similar to your cat situation. Because I am well known around here I get asked to take an awful lot of animals and unfortunatly I am usually in the position where I have to choose which ones I feel need me most. Compulsive buyers/dumpers do not rate very highly on my list ? I was just interested to see what other rescues views were and what would happen if they were put in a similar position. I take in a lot of strays from the RSPCA which are my highest priority. I just get so annoyed when people do not learn from their mistakes, dispite any advice you give them ::)

Probably not.It would depened on how many i took on the first time round. If i took 2 and then they wanted me to take 1 more than probably not...

Not much room for any more really. :-\

For me it would depend on the state the animals were in. Anyone signing over to me needs to sign an RSPCA document for surrenders. I think I would speak to my Inspector and ask her to have a chat with them if it happened regularly and was inexcusable.
People don't realise they are taking up space that could be used by really needy pigs. In the same way that breeders in the fancy don't expect to offload onto rescues members of the public should have the same respect.

Never had it happen to me Cheryl- yet!

I would be inclined to say yes i would take them but I would have to have some strong words with them when they brought the second lot.
I have a policy that if i have room I will never turn a Piggy away no matter what

In all honesty It'd depend on the state of the pigs. If it was bad I'd take them and have very strong words. I wouldn't if they'd just got bored again
