As recently posted Midge has been a bit under the weather and is now a bit uncomfortable while peeing. One veg that she positively loves is sweetheart cabbage so she's been having rather a lot to increase her food intake. I can find the calcium levels (guinealynx) for most cabbage but not this type. Does anybody know what the calcium content is and whether it's suitable for 'bladder' piggies. Thanks.

I THINK (though I really can't be certain) that I read somewhere that sweetheart cabbage is slightly lower in calcium than some of the others (particularly kale), but all cabbage is still relatively high in calcium. I don't feed my bladder piggy any cabbage, but I understand your difficulties if you're trying to improve her food intake.

Does she like broccoli - this is a good one (I have a kidney stone and sludgey bladder pg - vetcare multimodal food is low in calcium and really helps to stop the squeeking when weeing - syringe feeding extra water or giving extra cucumber will help )

Not as much as cabbage :). I went to a different vets to pick up a large pack of cc and brought the multimodal. It makes a lovely place to go toilet on. Strangely the cucumbers not going down as well as normal. Piggies can be soooo annoying at times.

celery is low in calcium (I think?) as an alternative to cucumber and has a high water content. I cut mine up into small pieces to avoid problems with the stringy bits!

Both my rabbits and piggies fight over celery as they all love it. ;)
