Hi everyone,
Firstly can I please say a HUGE thank you to everyone, i know i am a newbie, but you have all been so welcoming and warm in my 'hour of need' xoxo

So our new friend is here :) She is called 'fluffy' and boy is she!

I put a big towel on the sofa, brought Mia down from the bathroom and she was very down looking, I took Fluffy out of the box and put her on the other end. Mia looked up, Fluffy wander across, and Mia suddenly sprang into life! I have to admit that a little tear came to my eye :rose

There is lots of noise coming from both of them, squeaking and rumbling, Fluffy is doing more of the rumbling, and Mia what i call talking. No signs of aggression just yet, lots of bum sniffing, and what looks like scent marking - one will wee, the other sniffs it.

Fluffy was kept alone for about a year, so is probably grateful for a friend.
She is VERY fluffy, could do with a bath and covered in hairballs :(

Should I leave them for now for her to settle in?

Aww glad Mia and Fluffy are together.
If they are being indoor piggies then it may be a good idea to bath them both so they smell the same. That sometimes helps when you are pairing piggies.
good luck :<>

Sounds good i'm so pleased for Mia too. I'd leave them for now to sort it out and bond maybe bath tomorrow?

Are they in the original cage together?

Sounds like they are both going in the right direction, I'd definately let the new member settle before doing anything. Congratulations by the way.

Leave them to it and don't give them a bath/haircut before they have sorted themselves out! But I agree that when you sort out Fluffy, give Mia a bath with the same shampoo as well, so they still smell the same and can deepen the bond by grooming each other and creating a new group scent.

I am always amazed how much a bereft guinea pig suddenly springs to life with a new friend around; it's like a fire has been lit again inside!

If they are OK with each other, transfer them to the cage. but make sure that it is freshly cleaned and a bit differently arranged, so it is as "neutral" as possible.

Great news! It sounds like she is very happy to have someone to talk to and popcorn with :))
Can't wait to see pictures of them together :)
x

That is great news! Look forward to seeing pictures of them together! Must be a huge weight off your mind! :)

I have put them both back upstairs now into the cage, and shut the door, I'm resisting the urge to check then every 5 minuets!

I will give them a few days to settle, then give them both a good bath. Do i just use baby shampoo?

Yes, itys a HUGE weight, I honestly didnt think she'd make it to the end of the week. i told her last night to just hang on for another night :rose
