Hey guys. I've heard this funny noise a few times at night over the past 10 months that ive had the girls. But today i've noticed that Iris is doing it. Its like a cross between a donkey and a wheeze. My boyfriend told me he heard her last night and that it stops when she coughs once, as it did just now. Shes completely herself, is eating fine and theres no snobby nose or anything different with her eyes.
She has lost her wheek a bit..perhaps? maybe? its like vocal things getting stuck?
Any advice would be appreciated x :)p

She could have something stuck in her teeth. I would probably suggest an URI because these can occur without the presence of running nose/eyes. In the early stages the guinea will still be running around and eating normally.

Like a rumbly/raspy breathing noise? Sort of a grumbling, rumbling...strange noise as they breathe. It is so hard to explain, isn't it? I know there has been a video on YouTube of a piggie doing this noise, I will find it now.

If so, it's definitely a breathing noise, not vocal, and it usually clears up with a cough and doesn't come back for some time (days/weeks/months...it's very variable).

I have/had a number of piggies who do this, and I find it is aggravated by the central heating - seems to be the drier air. It's never been a respiratory infection with our lot, though it is worth a vet check just to be sure.
