Hi. I have read a few threads about adding a third male, but have heard mixed reviews. The main reason I want to add a third one is that my older guinea pig can no longer keep up with my youngest. I've been slowly noticing over the past couple of months. Neo no longer runs around the cage, and doesn't take as much interest in food as he used too. It's almost as if Alfie is alone, and has no piggy to play with. Alphalpha is pretty docile, rarely challenges Neo, and is overall very friendly towards other cavies. I am not sure if I should look into adopting another piggy, or keep the same situation as I have now.

@alphalpha_neo What is the bond like between Alphalpha and Neo? Also how old is Neo? On a few occassions in the past I've found that my older boar has prefered to either live alone or have an older friend. I'd then bond the younger pig with a newer one.

So, I wonder if you could bond Alphalpha with a new pig and either get Neo an older friend or see how he goes just being neighbours to the other two.

I really would not advise this. Boar Trios rarely work and you stand the chance of destroying existing bond. Lots of good advice above and a good idea from @Jaycey

Okay, thank you so much! I think I will keep my two boars now, but I'll start contacting some rescues and see if they have any piggies that may fit with my pair.
