Junior Guinea Pig
so I know this is a guinea pig forum but the hamster forum I'm on is pretty much dead these days so hopefully this is okay.
Unfortunately, my sweet little Daisy passed away 2 days ago. She's always been super crazy and energetic (as typical for many female Syrians) but she was still so sweet despite all her energy. she never ever bit anyone, even young children who weren't always as gentle as they should've been. she loved roaming around my bedroom and was constantly begging to be taken out despite having a large bin cage. She was always cracking me up with her antics, and in the 2 years she was with me, she managed to chew up my curtains, get into my laundry bin (more than once!), chew right through the cord for my lamp, chew up my the bottom of my bedroom door, and more. she was such a good girl- when I let her free roam, she came to me the second I either called for her or patted the floor. after years of having pets that are naturally on the timid side, she showed me what it feels like to have a pet who truly adores their owner. I never thought I would feel this way about a hamster, but she was really something special. I have 3 other hamsters but everyone, including myself, had a special place in their heart for Daisy. when she got sick for the first and last time 2 months ago, the veterinary staff completely fell in love with her, going as far as to decorate her paper medical bag with a little flower. I got many compliments about how sweet she was, and how she reminded so many of the staff of their own hamsters. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, at just about 26 months old, which is the average lifespan of a hamster. I'm heartbroken her time came but I'm so happy that I was privileged to spend almost her entire life with her. If she had to go, this was the best way.
I miss you Daisy, I hope you're having a good time up there
