I'd been dozing off last night after giving the pigs some celery and hay as a late night snack, and realised after a while that there was a funny noise coming from somewhere in my room. The closest i can compare it to was nails dragging along something, and it was every few seconds. It started to get very annoying, and I realised my boyfriend hadn't fallen asleep at all due to it!
So I got up and looked out of the window and around my room, eventually realising it was coming from the pig's cage.
It was Ruby, sat in the pigloo stock-still with her eyes bulging out like mad. I got her out straight away as close up she sounded wheezy and full of fluid, but her chest was fine, she ate some celery, and there were no signs of illness through her nose/teeth or anything else. I put her back and, after a few seconds, she happily shuffled off to have a snack.
She's been fine ever since! No wheezing at all, her breathing settled back to normal within a few minutes. I know she was grunting, but I like to think she was "singing" as she doesn't squeak a whole lot- she's a clucky pig- and me and my boyfriend now like to say that her singing voice is just a little bit rusty :))
just thought i'd share that story with everyone!
