Sorry this is a similar post to on behaviour but I have another Q

I have two hormonal boys who have fallen out. They are in seperate cages but near each other at the moment and I'm pondering getting them neutered and "wives" BUT I'm not sure its worth the risk.. They seem to like their own space to be honest. and even if I go through the neutering will they even take to having a female each? Thus making them be neutered a pointless risk.

I have a double decker hutch that they can live in so they would still have company and talk to each other and not be alone but obviously have their own little flat each so no risk of brawls (poor max has a chunk of his ear missing!)

*sigh* Its never easy!

WWYD ? Keep them whole and in a double decker hutch/cages near each other to keep each other company or get them the op and wives each... (thats gonna be atleast 6w away after they are clear of sperm)

This was my problem with Sunshine and Twinkle. They were both the same age and had a major falling out when they were 6 months old. I housed them side by side for 6 months which they were fine with. They could still see one another and then once I knew the hormonal teenage stage was over at 1 I got them a young male pal each, one from rescue, one from a free ads.

Or you could house next to one another and try rebonding at 1. Maybe they will have calmed down by then? I did try with my two but it was obvious that they were both dominant boars and one wouldn't give in and be submissive.

I can understand about not wanting to risk neutering. I am the same.

I had this too with Huxley & Hamish after living together for 13 months Huxley started to bully Hamish & i separated them, they will be 4 in May & have lived happily side by side with a mesh divider ever since they were separated.

With Toddie (now aged 2), i knew he craved the company of piggies & tried him with a baby, he loved him for approx 6wks before bullying him & so they'd to be separated, he then lived alone but next to other piggies but he still craved company & so in February i made the decision to have him neutered, he now has 2 wives & is finally happy.

My advice is you know your boys, if they are happy living their single lives then i would leave them that way :)
